Carfax/Vinfo

Looking at 03 ES to save my soul from my 95, 161k Maroon Escort...

Hate to be cheap but...anyone have a cf report (know where I could get one) to run these vins...

The story of this 2003 MAZDA PROTEGE DX/LX/ES (JM1BJ225X31204460) according to our interpretation of the information reported to CARFAX:

This sedan has had 2 owners and was owned in Illinois. It was originally registered by the owner for personal use.
It has had no minor or moderate accidents reported to CARFAX.
It has had no DMV-reported total loss events, like a major accident, fire or flood.
It has not been reported by a DMV as having an Exceeds Mechanical Limits or Not Actual Mileage title.
It has a consistent mileage history with no indication of an odometer rollback. It was driven an average of 14,965 miles per year, which is slightly lower than the industry average of 15,000. The last odometer reading, reported on 10/07/2005, was 30,947 miles.
It was not reported by a DMV as a Manufacturer Buyback or LEMON.
It has no recalls that still require repair.
CARFAX estimates it has 22 months or 19,053 miles remaining on the basic warranty. The basic warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage.

According the VIN, it does not have side airbags

got to "model info", then "how do I read my VIN"

You can try getting the window sticker for your particular car by emailing mazda with the VIN, just state that you own the vehicle and they will send it right out (thumb)

you can actually request a Carfax report at the dealership when talking to one of the representatives there. Plus since you're really interested in the car, they will provide it for you, oh and did I mention that they will provide the report for you free of charge? (thumb)

Man thank you so much for the info gksspot. I think you replied to my last message about 02 vs 03's. I've been looking at 02/03 Protege's and 04/05 3's. I've found that 02/03 5 speed silver LX's (and especially ES's) are not in a great abundance... Thanks DiS for the info on the free Carfax report from the dealer. I'm in TX and the dealership is over 800 miles away in MN, but that is a good point as I'm sure I could have them fax e-mail something. Thanks again to both of you for the info.

No prob, I was just where you are at, a couple weeks ago. I did mange to get a nicely loaded 02 LX with a manual tranny for pretty cheap but I had to get it in CA... they are not in abundance like the sticks are!

I remember seeing a pretty well equiped manual Protege on Ebay that was in Texas, heres the link

Its an LX with kind of high miles but Im sure it would last if it was in good shape.
