Ok... just wondering, is a carbon fiber hood just for looks, or is there a benefit?

Man, I've been driving my Speed for about 1.5 weeks now, and the damn floor mat is scuffing up right at the left edge of the rubber. I guess my left heel sits right there. Wish they would've made the rubber part larger! lol

There is a reduction in weight. But for the most part I think anyone who buys a cf hood is buying it for looks. That's why I bought mine.

if its a cb hood with a clear coat its all show, if its "dry" cb then its there for a reason.......

d_stickney - it really depends on which "CF" hood.

Some "CF" hoods are basically the stock hood with a layer of CF on them. Totally rice, non- functional, and no performance benefits.

Some others are CF, but only one layer. These generally are for looks, but do have some weight reduction benefits. They however aren't very rigid and require hood pins.

For our own CF hoods, we design them for funtion over form, maximum weight reduction, utilizes a metal latching system (hood pins not reqiured). Our two lines "Regular" and "Full" are only different in the material for the structure (NBFRP vs. CF or CF/Kevlar).

YellowSpeed1229 - are you talking about our regular Yellow CF/Kevlar hood? Did you want to have the washer nozzles pre-drilled?

I'll vouch for the ion hoods, top quality, you sure you don't want a yellow one though? the colored hoods look hot hot hot

YellowSpeed1229 - Here's some pics of the Yellow CF/Kevlar hood on a IS300 :)

The cost of the regular weave CF hood w/o nozzles drilled, shipped to your door in CA w/ full insurance and payment via Money Order is -> $689.99US inclusive.

YellowSpeed1229 - The price quoted is already a discounted price. Shipping w/ insurance & shipping materials etc is already $150US of that. So the hood is only $539.99US after the club discount.

Guess you haven't seen the quality of the hoods. Our latches are nickle plated which BOLT-ON to a pre-tapped aluminum inserts which is set into the mould. No cheap fiberglass or metal rod "latches". The edges are also rolled to combat the lift issue at speeds.

your right i have not... i do appoligize.. i understand that you get what u pay for.. i just wasnt expecting to pay that much for a hood. thats all
