Carbon fiber hood...

Anyone planning on getting one? How much weight will it take off about? Im really considering the $1200 one with the intake scoop it just looks so cool and I bet that scoop really does help...

I am definately getting one, and I won't get that $1200 one. I'm either gonna get the DG Motorsports one for $700, or get a Fiber Images one. I may end up doing that next, because thats a big chunk of change that isn't going to come very often..I might use my income tax refund on that..whenever the hell it shows up. Whatever you decide upon, make sure you get one with a very good warranty(look for a UV Protection). The one on my Civic has already started to "fade" I guess you could say...If i do that, it'll be here around mid-April...

Will be going Carbon happy pretty soon. I'm doing the DG hood without the inlet. I'm too affraid of rocks and too much dirt/dust to be pulled into the intake, or close to the intake...Later,

2K3,
What brand hood do you have?
Im the 2nd owner of a FI CF hood on my civic and it still looks great ( besides a few swirl marks).

I just got some peice 'o s*** no name hood. I had my car repainted after I put the kit on, and there was a miscommunication about what they were suppose to do with the stock hood. Okay, well, the dumb fuckers didn't take the dings out, or paint it. So I had this awsome looking car/paintjob, and a dinged up, faded red hood. I was planning on getting a CF hood anyways, and the import shop I used to go to had one(the no name one) in stock. I got a good deal on it since i didnt have to pay shipping, but now I know why it's worth the extra $100-$200.

So much for waiting till April...My tax refund is in my account!!! Now, Carbon Fiber hood, or boost controller/BOV/turbo timer???

i wanna get a hood

I cant decide tho

I was thinking of the DG Ram air. I think with the intake being that short the turbo/intake noises would be even louder than a CAI which sounds good to me. i dont know however if DG will be making a ram air hood for the MSP. As i understand it the hood comes with a custom airbox of sorts that is attached to the underside of the hood or something like that so that the air is being forced into the intake rather than blowing in on the whole engine. MSP has different ducting and whatnot so I think it would need a different underhood attachment for this to work

so i like that, or the DG plain CF one

or the wings west evo. I loved the idea of a evo style hood a few months ago, but after seeing it on the wings west protege im not too sure how it would look in person. Cant decide.

The EVO is a bit too much, imo, for a daily driver car. Looks great for show, but I'd be afraid to take it out. Not only the risk of rocks/keys/etc, but rain and dirt going straight into the engine bay.

I am curious as to how the Wings West bodykit would look on a Titanium MSP, though. :D

can sumone do sum nice photoshop work and put a CF hood on the msp cause it sounds like no one has already put a CF hood on? Id appreciate it, id love to get it but im not sure how the color combo would look. thnx guys. what about the APC hood??

Yo, the CF hood on Orange is Bad Ass. The APC 2 scoop hood is the one I have seen on the other orange one around my town. If I see him out tomorrow night I will get a pic...Later

:-D u are the best, i gotta see it, the APC is pretty inexpensive right?? 500ish. holy s*** i gotta see it please get that pic!!

Photoshopped Hood

This was my first attempt at making a CF hood for the MSP. It looks decent, but the pic has a tint to the hood which I couldn't get rid of.. It's worth looking at though.

Im sorry but I like black tint rather than color tint =[

I like black, too.. I just wanted to see what it would look like with a orange looking tint. *shrug*

oh that looks real nice, i love the window tint, can u make all the windows have that tint? ur a whiz

Here ya go. Just remember, I'm just now getting in to changing cars with Photoshop. I'm sure someone else out there could do a lot better of a job and make it look a lot cleaner..

Take a look at the clear corners, darker rims, and shaved handles & sidemarker. Although I'm not a big fan of shaved handles, I'm thinking that I actually like the shaved sidemarker. I dunno though, it could just be that it's 2:49am and I've been staring at this car in Photoshop for the past two hours. *Must sleep*

I'll do a group buy on Fiber Images Hoods if you want. Black only though. I want a quick turn around. Let me know.

Im not sure if they make one for the protege's yet, but If I were going to get a CF hood, I would get a VIS Racing one. I had one for my eclipse and loved it. It was 100% Carbon Fiber. Most of the other ones out there are fiberglass and have a carbon fiber top layer. They are signifigantly heavier and more flimsy. I know that if VIS isn't making them yet, they will accept requests and make them per order. They cost about 500$ for an OEM style Eclipse hood. Just my .02 though.
