Carbon Fiber Dash kit questions...

Aren't those for JDM interiors? I say that because the switches are for the wrong door handles/ arm rests. As in the sections that go in the driver side door is the wrong shape as it is for LHD. I may not be looking at that right though.

wait that isnt real is it? Thats that BENE VENTO sticker stuff isnt it....
The bene vento sticker stuff is actually quite nice. I requested samples b/c I'm looking at a set and couldn't decide which color. It's real weave if anybody's asking. As far as this set goes, I agree, it looks fake from the pics. Does anybody know a manufacturer that makes the actual pieces and not the stick on kind? Stick on's ok I guess, but it'd be better to have the pieces.

i wouldnt, i would say 99 percent sure its fake. look at this pic i quickly chopped. the main pic is the s*** this guy is selling. notice how the pattern of carbon fiber are perfectly sqaured pieces, almost like a southwestern style tile. see the pattern they make? now look at my "carbon fiber" momo knob, which is FAKE carbon fiber...SAME EXACT pattern, the only reason it looks slightly different is because its bent in a circle instead of the shape of that other piece. now look at the other, somewhat blurry inset. thats REAL carbon fiber, taken up close of my shift plate. notice the pattern is totally different, showing more of a prominant diagonal pattern, and notice everything is not 100% perfect. ive never seen a CF piece 100% perfect unless its fake.

i still contend this is fake carbon fiber. sorry to whoever bought it, but you can almost garuntee its fake. someone take a pic of their stock dash kit and i bet the pattern is identical.

Agreed. Check out the diagram I made off of the sample pics on the Ebay auction and a sample of real CF I got from BeneVento. The genuine carbon fiber weave creates a diagonal pattern (as also seen in Matthew's post), the printed/fake CF lays more like a brick pattern as seen on the Ebay pic. Also, it does not state anywhere in the auction description that it is "genuine" carbon fiber or any other terminology. It's a fine print, I'll give it that, but I wouldn't buy it thinking you're getting actual CF based on those pics.

the problem with comparing the type of weave is that carbon fiber can come in a LOT of different styles of weave. most fake c/f is an over/under. most mass marketed c/f is over over/under under (the dg stuff and most c/f hoods) there a bunch of different weaves you can have all depending on the strenght and application needed. check out this site for the some weave pattersn

http://www.carb.com/carbon.html
http://www.fiberglasswarehouse.com/aramid_carbon.asp

most FAKE c/f uses the plain weave pattern, most places use the satin weave cause it is easier to match to uneven surfaces.

but back to the pics, for some reason it just looks painted to me. and when they molded the fabric to the door handle cups, the weave would have distored more then that IMOP.

youre right, but i still contend that this CF in this post is fake. you can clearly see by both of our photchop comparisons that the weave in the pics is identical to ALL mass marketed fake carbon fiber.

On that Bene Vento stuff, can you see where the sticker was laid? or does the stick on thing wrap all the way around the piece? It looks as though for the parts I want that Bene Vento is going to be the only thing I can find. And honestly if it looks decent i dont care that its a sticker.

look at the picture that has the door handles and look down in the hole. you can clearly see the reprinted weave. also look a the places where the window switches go. the tabs on the bottoms are carbon fiber. i would say these things are fake as hell

agreed that they are fake.. but at this point what does it matter? No one makes those pieces in real Carbon fiber. So the next best thing will have to suffice. Anyone have pictures of the Bene Vento stuff?

it does matter BECAUSE it looks like s***. i dunno, im more into real s*** not into fake stuff. ESPECIALLY if you have, say a real CF piece from DGM and fake s*** as well. it just doesnt mix.

it matters to me. i would rather have the painted peices rather than some cheap fake ass stickers everywhere

but honestly its not like this s*** does anything any damn ways besides gives you a different color scheme in your interior

Exactly my point. You are just doing it for a change in look. Their functionality wont change if real carbon fiber is used as opposed to a cheap ass sticker. Since no one actually offers those pieces in real carbon fiber then go with the next best thing. If the Bene Vento s*** looks real then go for it. Either way Im not trying to make an argument, because I'll buy it if I like it. To me its the same as painting the interior pieces, and no one usually argues with that.

but Matthew I do have to laugh at your comment about mixing real with fake. You just showed a picture of your momo shift knob with fake carbon fiber and said you had a real CF DGM shifter plate.. hehehe j/k(thumb)
