Car won't start even with key in ignition

Hi everyone,

I don't know if anyone has run into this problem before, but i've had a random problem with my speed6 not starting.

At first, i thought it was the advanced key, which the dealership replaced, it would randomly not work and for a while didn't work at all.

While using the valet and spare key, i noticed a few times that the ignition would turn, but the car wouldn't start, simply nothing would happen when i'd try to start the car. I tried multiple keys to no avail, and for some reason, opening the driver side door and closing it allows the car to start.

I've since had the advanced key replaced, but now the car is randomly doing the same thing, this time when turning the key fob instead of the physical key. I posted a video (for what its worth), but i have doubts the dealership is going to be able to figure this one out since it happens so randomly.

Any thoughts?

check the car battery, check fuses, check grounding...

The battery and fuses are fine, i don't know about a bad ground somewhere. The funny thing is when i can't start the car, opening and closing the driver side door usually lets me start it on the next try...

Well, how do you know the battery and fuses are "fine"?

The door has nothing to do with the starting circuit, so I'm guessing you DO have a battery/fuse problem and the door action "stimulates" the loose fuse, wire connection, or battery ground that is located in the left front area of the car.

Sounds like an easy fix to me. Pull the kick panel and the fuse box to check the main wire connections to it. The main battery ground is also under the hood right there at the left rear near the door hinge area.

Just had the same thing on my MS3. I checked everything (relays, battery connects, clutch engagement switch, all fuses, battery. I, went to the dealer one day and it started so they said it would be a waste of money to look at it till it started acting up again. 3 weeks later it did it again so I jacked up the car, removed undercover and tracked the three grounds and grounding bracket down, removed the bolts and sanded with a fine sanding pad both sides of wire connectors and grounding surface as well as a grounding bracket that had 2 ground wires, I disconnected the S wire connector clipped onto the starter and sanded male connector and sprayed contact cleaner in female connector, removed main power wire from starter after disconnecting battery and sanded both sides of eyelet connector and starter surface, hooked it all back up and it started right off and has continued to start since,
Each connector had white oxidation on both sides from the salty winter roads up here in Wisconsin, but none where lose, make sure your S wire connector isn’t lose on the pole.
