Car Tune up

:
mazda, protege 5
At how many miles should a full tune up be done? Im also wanting to add some new features to my car to give it a little more horsepower, i have obx headers, injen intake, bosol exhaust, with apexi tip, and ported and polish head.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

light weight pulleys and under driven crankk pulley is next for you...or turbo..

OK, so I see people throwing around the word "tune-up" all the time. What the hell is a tune-up? Is that a timing-belt change? Or a spark-plug change? Or what? It seems like a catch-all for a shop to charge you out the asshole for nothing.

You can install your own plugs, wires, coils, pcv and air filter for what I would call a complete tune up. That definition varies widely among shops. Most of them won't do all of that but still charge you out your ass for a basic tune up.

The term "tune-up" is kinda left over from the days of carbs. Since these cars have electronic fuel injection, their really isn't any thing to do to "tune" them "up". Just regular maintainence.

Change your oil/filter every 3-7,000 miles. Change your coolant every 30,000 miles. Change your transmission fluid every 30,000 miles (for auto- don't know the interval for 5 speed). Change the timing belt every 90-105,000 miles. Change the spark plugs every 15-30,000 miles. Change the ignition coils as needed. Change the plug wires as needed. Change the belts as needed or 90,000 miles. Change the coolant hoses as needed or 90,000 miles.
