Car dies when at idle, PLEASE HELP!!!

:
2002 MP5-T
Ok, heres the situation. My car has started dying everytime it drops to idle, or basically when ever I'm not holding the throttle to about 1500 rpms.

It started after i put in the wrx 440's. I also intalled the auto tune with built in VC and removed the FM VC.

I was talking to tekkie and trying to get the issue worked out because it was bouncing back and forth from off the scale lean and rich at idle. Then it just started staying one way or the other and dying, then now the last 3 days its off the scale lean at idle and dies everytime.

what I've done so far:
1. I went backwards taking off things and replacing them with new stock parts. I also tested it after every change and it still keeps dying.

2. I replaced the 440's with the stockers. I've replaced the walbro with a new stock pump, i've changed all the iradium plugs with new plain stock ones. I've put in a new 02 sensor. I removed the autotune, and put back in the FM VC. I tried bypassing the VC. I even tried to replace the stock NB 02 sensor with the 0-1v analog output of the AEM EUGO. THAT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. CAR RAN LIKE CoMPLETE s***!!!

3. I've replaced all my maps in the EMANAGE with 0's so that it will not try to do anything to the motor.

Still dies. HELP!

where is your maf? before or after the turbo?
it is after the turbo. I've had it like this for almost 1 1/2 yrs. Also on the emanage screen the MAf voltage is 1.9v roughly. I have to watch it fast bevcause it dies pretty quickly.

I was kind of thinking MAF too, but it seems like the voltage is moving up and down like it should, and also doesnt the car not even read from the MAF at idle because its in closed loop?

another thing, if i pull the fuse for the emanage it should just run like stock solely off of the ecu. Also should i pull the battery to reset the ecu?

I thin breal has it right, Have you disconeected any IC pipes or any vaccum lines recently before it started running like crap?

cause when i was running the e-manage with the maf before the turbo it would stall whenever i would let off the gas and as soon i moved it to the charge pipe no stalling issuses. but i'm guessing if you already have it moved it is leaning more toward a vac leak. what does your boost/vac gauge read?

I agree with you about seeming like a vac leak, when I first put on the turbo, I kept blowing the maf off of the pipe because I didnt get a t-bolt clamp big enough. Boy it died quicker than s*** when that happened!

Thats all been fixed long ago, and I have checked about everywhere I can find and nothing is disconnected. The POS autometer boost gauge reads like about 15 psi of vac, but the greddy EBC says 9.9 the same its always said at full vac.

I joined a yahoo emanage group and recieved an email with FAQ. In it was something about if you updated your parameter settings then exported to the emanage with out doing it a certain way it will cause your car to run and idle like s***. Mine runs pretty good, really good actually when your up and going, but at idle up to about 1500 rpm, crap.

I'll find the email and post it in a few....

emanage idle/run problem

Here's that post on the yahoo FAQ:

There is a small bug in the Support Tool software. Here's info and a
workaround:

This procedure is for those who have problems using the Support Tool on
the laptop. There are scenarios where
if you use the PARAMETER SETTINGS and "Confirm" your changes, it will
cause your car to not run/idle properly
and not all parameters are saved to the E-Manage unit. This seems to
exist for Support Tool 1.11 and previous.

Questions, feel free to email vinnie.lima@jvllogistics.com

1) Turn your car to ON
2) Go to the FILES section of the yahoo group and download the latest
US
language and the latest Main unit operating system.
3) Bring up your support tool to ONLINE
4) Go to COMMUNICATION and click on MAIN UNIT UPDATE
5) When it prompts you to TURN OFF MAIN UNIT, turn your key to OFF
position.
6) Click OK
7) Turn ignition to ON
8) Bring up your support tool to ONLINE.
9) Go to SETTINGS and click on PARAMETER SETTINGS
10) Make all your changes and select relevant maps. If you do not have
the additional harnesses, check the "Air Flow Adjustment Map". Also set
your Throttle Setting.
11) Click on CONFIRM. It will pop up asking you to turn off ignition
once. Go ahead and turn ignition to OFF. Click OK.
12) Turn ignition to ON. Reconnect support tool so it is ONLINE.
13) Go to COMMUNICATION and then click on EXPORT DATA.
14) Once that is done, click on CONFIRM for any pop ups you get. Then
turn the ignition to OFF.
15) Turn the ignition to ON and proceed to turn the car ON.

From this point on, NEVER reconfigure the PARAMETER SETTINGS or export
to main unit!!! This is what screws things up.

Any change you make on your air-flow map are automatically updated with
the main unit thus there is no need to "export".

Every time you start up your support tool and want to modify the maps
on the main unit, just IMPORT from the main unit and proceed to modify
it.
But again, never mess around with the PARAMETER SETTINGS or EXPORT to
main unit unless you go through the steps above again.

You'll see it says that effects versions 1.11 and earlier, but I'm running 1.25/1.47

I'm gonna go try this procedure here in a little while. would have done yesterday but was in chicago all day at the auto show, ya it was pretty badass!

any updates?

I added the WRX 440s and I have the same problem as you. Also have really hard starts as well.

thanks

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Go to your AAV value settings and change them all to 0's.

I believe those values are set up by those rotary switches on the emanage itself as part of the "rough map". At idle it was pulling like -20 air adjust, so it would go way lean, car would try to compensate (if it had time) and go way rich. Either way it was enough to keep killing it.

I switched all those values to 0, and set my maps top scale to start at like 500 rpm so i could adjust values at idle if i needed too. Turns out i didnt need to adjust really anything at idle.

Anyways, I switched those to all 0's, uploaded that to the emanage, started the car and it purred like a kitten. Been like that for like 3 days now. I've since put all the upgraded fuel pump, injectors, plugs, 02 sensor, all back in and still runs great!

good info.

I'm having the exact same problems with my microtech lt8s, maybe it something similar.
No idea.

thanks

hmm I will have to try this and see what happens to mine

whats wierd is how mine was set up was 2000 rpm was the start point, and then the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc was like 2000, 3000, 4000, etc. So it looks to me like it shouldnt even had been trying to adjust anything under 2000 rpm. but the 1st oint of 2000 rpm was set at -20 and that what it was doing at idle.

Any way now I can adjust everything without it trying to do its own adjustments at set points. Its made things a TON easier!
