cant loosen serpentine belt

so my belt was squealing a lot today from running through all the snow so i went to check the tension and noticed that the belt is riding on the very edge of the pulleys. the belt is still completely on the pulley but not sitting exactly where it needs to be. i went to loosen the tension and was able to turn the bolt out plenty far, but the slider is seized up or something. do i have to loosen the bolt on the slider too or is it probably just frozen from a little rust and the cold? i tried some liquid wrench and heat but it hasnt moved at all yet.

never mind! just some extra pulling and liquid wrench and i got the slider free, belt aligned and tensioned up!

okay so after my drive tonight I noticed that the belt again has shifted to the very edge of all the pullies. could this just be from the belt not being tight enough or by a bad belt? the grooves all look real fine

So, is it out of the grooves? I'm not sure what you mean by "riding the edge of the pulley." You could always just replace it and see if that fixes the problem. I doubt it's a bent pulley...not sure how that would happen.

rock or something get caught up in it. It happned to me a couple years ago had the same symptoms the belt will eventually work its way off completely
