Canadian Mazda Dealers - no dicker?

Hi guys, I realize this might vary by dealership, but I'm curious about other people's experiences in this regard. I was trying to secure a "deal" on a Protege5 that went beyond the publicly advertised low finance rates (ie a discount on MSRP). There was no indication that the dealer had any interest in playing ball in that regard, even though they want to clear out the P5's AND Im a clearly serious buyer who has been to the dealership a few times in the past few days and have money to spend.

I always thought that, other than Saturns and the new Access Toyota pricing, car buying was a negotiation process. Maybe I just suck at it. I kept hinting I might put the cash on the table if they came out with a decent offer, but no bites.

Thoughts or experiences?

Check out www.carcostcanada.com. They're an online broker that I used and I got my Pro5 with AC and moonroof in Vancouver BC for $500 over (published) dealer invoice (21629+500), MSRP was 23329, or something close to that.

It depends on the stealership, I got 3 quotes, ranging from $500 over inv (Summit Mazda) to $1200 over inv (Signature Mazda). All deals are done through the Fleet Dept so no "I'll have to check with my manager" BS. The deal is done and that's it.

Any more ?, let me know.

EDIT: I also got 0% on 48mos and 90days no pymt as part of the MCI deals

Cool John, thanks :)

Is it fairly safe to assume that if I decide to go for the Mazda 3 I should expect to pay "sticker" due to low supply / newness / high demand?
