just a poll to see what the interest is and how many people will come.

you can make multiple choices so if there is more then one thing you are interested in vote for em all.

the date is still to be determined esp if the sea dogs is chosen then we have only a set amount of dates to pick from. aug 2-16th possibly the 21st is the range from our canadian brother.

http://www.seadogs.com/schedule.html?mm=08&yyyy=2008
link for seadogs august schedule. i would prefer a night game as any day game you are going to roast in the sun and i am already going on friday the 15th but if its the chosen event and day i just won't sit with you smelly hooligans. (i have better seats then gen admission and gen admission is all thats left pretty much not a bad seat though)

I voted for a Sea Dogs game... only because it will give us the option to have a bbq right there... and its cheap entertainment. Provides a great place for all of us to hang out as well.
Go karting is hella fun, but at 22 bucks a pop for an 8 minute session, that racks up quickly.

yeah thats why i also wrote out prices... go karting is a damn good time 40mph 2" off the ground is no joke. but as you said 22bucks a shot is crazy as it would be one and done with me. as with most.

When forced to decide, I went with bbq + seadogs. Although, I could be convinced to go to pretty much any of those possible events.

yeah thats the way its looking sea dogs + bbq. the one not so nice thing about all the beaches as far as photo shots for cars is the parking lots are not near the scenery i am leaning towards one of the promenades in portland over looking the harbor.

I think that the promenades would make for some sweet photo ops. There are some nice views up there.

western or eastern both have nice views though i think there is some construction at the western prom... will take a drive up there some time in the next week or two and see what the deal is.

Any news on this? I see that bbq at an undisclosed location is winning at this point... but have we thought of a place besides the promenades in Portland? Is the Nubble Lighthouse too far of a travel for you guys? There's a pretty sweet drive along the coast there as well, and I think there is quite a bit of parking at the actual Nubble Lighthouse, in York. That could be another option... just throwing it out there.

could do the light house in york i think that only makes the drive farther for me and shorter for everyone else...

As I said before, anywhere in southern Maine sounds good to me! (drinks)

Well I would like it to be central for everyone... that way it is fair. I am coming from NH, but it doesn't really matter to me where it is, as long as it is southern Maine (which to me, includes Portland).

(bump)

Any updates to this so far? I forgot my camera at the synaptic3 party and I want to get some good pictures!

was just going to update this... so yeah update

found out that light house in york doesn't have a true picnic area it is more of a restaurant with outdoor seating (don't want to piss them off so thats a no go) we could do something up near portland/cape elizabeth area i know fort williams allows you to do bbq and its huge the only bad part is you can't really get good scenery shots with the cars as the parking isn't close to the old fort or ocean really. or one of my coworkers was talking about a light house in cape elizabeth i am trying to get some detials as to what exactly the deal is there.

we also need to figure out a date. lets come up with some options and then i will call our canadian friend and see what works for him. i am thinking this sunday the 10th or next friday after work the 15th? he said he is either staying till the 16th or 21st. if its the 21st i would think the 17 would be best for me.

Either the 10th or the 17th work best for me. Fridays are a no-go generally because I have to drive back up to Maine from Boston.

What about Two Lights state park?? That's in the Cape Elizabeth area and it has some great views. The one thing I don't remember exactly is how close the parking is to the water....but it may be worth looking into.

I think it would be sweet to get pictures from the top of Cadillac Mountain up in Acadia, too, but that's a little bit farther than I really want to drive.

yeah acadia is a haul... two lights isn't bad. not sure which would be better bbq wise two lights or fort williams... my gf might have some insight.

I know two lights has picnic areas with grills...my question would be whether or not the views are worth it from the parking areas.

two lights costs money fort williams is free and parking together at the eastern prom probably isn't going to happen... so my vote is for the free one fort williams portland head light is there as well as the old fort so it has the same niceties as two lights just free. and i would think we could line our cars up and get a few shots with the fort or light house in the back ground just not right on the rocky cliffs...
