Can you paint the face on gauge cluster?

First of all, I'm new here, so BIG HI to everyone. Now, I have a 2008 Mazda 2 (a bit different from the 2011- onwards USA models). I have a white gauge cluster face on my dials, and I've build the whole thing with a budget. So can you paint the cluster face? Or, use a marker? Thanks in advance mates
