Can we take a step back....

Mazda 07 MS3, Chevy 05 C6
I cant believe the amount of self-censorship and paranoia Ive been reading on the forum lately. A small FEW have managed to convince a lot that Mazda is trolling the forum with sole intent to find warranties to void. Worse that Mazda has nothing better to do than void all of the MS3 warranties.

While I will not dispute if a few here have actually had their warranties voided or the reasons for it I will call BS on Mazda trolling the forums with sole intent to find warranties to void or that Mazda is going out of their way to find excuses not to honor warranty work for all their MS3. There is just no valid statistical or factual evidence to back either of those assumptions. The fact a few people had their warranty work denied does NOT make it a standard or common Mazda policy.

Im not defending Mazda just pointing out the absurdity of "I wont buy a Mazda now because of the denial of warranty" or "Im going to sell my MS3 in case the turbo dies and it wont get warrantied" based on one or two internet forum threads - please take a step back and look at the WHOLE picture and context before making decisions -

Every story is just that, a story. You won't get all of the facts. You'll just get the facts presented.

Do the maintenance.
Take it in for recalls
Don't do half assed installs on aftermarket pieces.
Don't drive it into the ground.

well to start off, id say you go ahead and put your vin, your mod and your location for starter.

These are funny. Read your warranty and talk to a service manager. You can help your car breath better legally. However, any catalytic elimination or more engine interior changes will void certain parts of a warranty, not all. Heavy modded cars watch out. Light "green" mods are fine.

alot of dealers make more money off warranty work anyways. voiding tons of warranties would not be profitable. now if mazda NA was doing it (above the dealers' heads), that might have made sense, but it's still doubtful.

i hope the dealer doesn't mind my speed holes in the hood :D

If people are gullible enough to believe everything they read, or to form an opinion based on the little facts given in these posts, let them. If they're not gonna buy another Mazda it's their loss. Doesn't affect me one bit. And all the posts are always the same: 'my engine blew, just cruising, I had no mods.'
Usually no more details are given even when asked. Then all the speculation starts: 'well maybe it's the oil', 'no it's the rods, they just magically shot out of cylinder # 4 under normal driving,' ' no it's the flash, he didn't get the magically-fix-everything-under-the-sun reflash, remember?' Then that's followed by the 'all these engines are defective, I'm not buying another Mazda, and so on.....

All the while, not a single iota more of info is given about the situation, then the thread dies.

Because howard the duck sucked! I want my $2.50 back for seeing that as a matine!

Tell me what posting my VIN would acomplish? You are a perfect example of the point Im trying to make: I claim Mazda isnt lurking and trying to void your warranty and your asking me to prove it by posting my VIN, mods, and location - Have you asked any of the few who have made the lurking claims etc to prove that they "REALLY" didnt mod the crap out of the car or stick the wrong oil in their cars?

If you are skeptical about my claims that is fine but you should be equally skeptical of those who post Mazda is out to get you... that is the only point Im trying to make

Certainly Mazda USA isn't on the corporate office computer and stalking all modders....But this forum is not unique in this one thing: People who work for Mazda, whether it be a salesperson, detail guy or region rep, belong to the forums to which their life revolves. They drive Mazda's, and they love to talk about them. They might even mod them. This isn't the first site to have some kind of evil "big brother" sort of thing going on. Howard Forums (a cell phone forum) had legends of Verizon and Cingular corporate catching people hacking their services and blah blah blah. Point is, the people that belong to this SITE are the ones that you have to be wary of. We all know as adults the evil that men do, and we also have seen plenty of nefarious characters do things for no apparent gain. There is always going to be that kid that goes "Teacher! Teacher! I saw what Billy did!" So it's the ultimate message that counts....Be careful who you tell what, and it's better to be safe than sorry. So, even though I'm new here, I'm not new to life and I just felt like putting in my two dabloons worth......

well we all know that getting your warranty voided after the car s**** the bed for obvious reasons is like a kick in the nuts, after a kick in the nuts. Not a fun experience :)
