Can the Mazdaspeed Protege really sound this good

You can listen to a couple video clips on Corksport's website of the Power Series exhaust...yes it can and does sound good. I unfortunately did not and will not pick up that system since I have a midpipe on the way, but I always liked how it sounded.

I read that the iON Performane Turbo-Back Exhaust System had gains of 22whp @ stock boost. The Corksport Cat-Back Claims 13whp and then the downpipe doesn't say anything at all. Do you guys think that the Corksport Downpipe and Cat-Back combined would have similar whp gains (22whp)?

Ricey. What is wrong with you? It sounds like a WRX. What is your idea of a good sounding exhaust then? Post a clip.

The corksport is nowhere near ricey at all. Behind the car it sounds like it's not a 4 cylinder. Maybe if your definition of rice is volume level then maybe cuz it can get loud especially on the freeway going 80 mph. I do the love the sound of it though. You might be able to achieve 20 whp for the whole system but it would probably only be beneficial up to 9 maybe 10 psi. You would want a 3 inch system for better flow with higher boost. It's a perfect system for a light to medium modified MSP and someone on a budget. It even sounds better when the car is moving where engine stress is involved. I just have the cat back system. Soon, a buddy and I will be custom fabbing a 3 inch dp for my car so it should sound a little more mean.

Does just the catback alone sound pretty good?

Also, at most I would run 10psi with piggyback fuel computer, front mount intercooler, exhaust, intake, and proper tuning.

The corksport is a little loud & raspy for me. But it does sound a lot better than most other systems out there.

Striker187, your's sounds really good too. What is yours exactly? Custom 3" catback w/5zigen Fireball muffler, GHL full 3" downpipe with hi-flow cat?

What type of Hi-FLow Cat is it?

not sure what kind of cat. whatever came with the ghl downpipe. if my current setup sounds too loud/raspy, listen to the ones before i got the downpipe. big difference.

Jeph. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST THEN?

We'll see what mine sounds like when i get it back. I have 3"downpipe, to 3"midpipe, to 3" Thermal R&D catback. It'll probably be louder than i want, but we'll have to see.
