CAI... Any hydrolocking issues?

03 MSP (Orange)
I have an Injen CAI installed on my 03 MSP and I live in Seattle, where it's gonna start raining a LOT during these upcoming months... The Injen system seems to place the air filter in a pretty secluded location on the car and I don't think that rain would be much of an issue... But I just wanted to make sure that no one has had problems in the rain... Has anyone hydrolocked their car or know of anyone who has?

I'm thinking I might wanna change my setup and reinstall the intake, short-ram style.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

If it's really going to be that big of a problem with the rain, switch to the SRI. Otherwise, when you're driving keep in mind how high the CAI is off the ground and avoid puddles. In all honesty, CAI or not, it not's a great idea to drive through puddles that will reach half way up the front quarter panels.

I've not heard of a hydrolocked MSP yet. Use common sense and you're highly unlikely to have a problem. Drive into a deep puddle and you'll get what you expect. Road spray is a non-issue. The filter is well blocked down there and they function fine wet should they catch some spray.

Water spray will not hurt your cylinders. It will actually cool them that's why people use water injection. The only way would could hydrolock your car is to completely submerge your filter in water (which may be possible in Seattle LOL).

i've ran through deep water with no problems. Just don't floor the s*** out of it and boost while u're running through a huge stream of water in the road. Puddles will not do anything. If you hit a little stream through a road thats like 10 ft wide or something just let off the gas and coast through it and you won't hurt a thing.

This guy by me with a mp3 hydrolocked his car with the stock air setup...I dont wanna know where he was driving..lol

They give people like that cars??? They don't give convicted felons guns. Why give retards a car???

It doesn't take a lot less to hydrolock a car with a CAI. Our cars are pretty low to the ground. Drive into a couple feet of water and you're in trouble either way.

Use common sense and you should be OK. Don't, and you'll need a new engine.

moral of the story, dont be stupid and drive into ANY standing water.... who does that?

now, if I still had my old 4x4 sure, I did it then, but my filter is about 1 foot off the ground.

also, even if you dont floor it, if you completely submerge your filter it WILL hydrolock
