Buying an MS3 in Alabama next week

Mazda, MS3 Silver Sport
Hello guys and girls! I'm really new Mazdas. I found this website and I'm thrilled to see everybody is so excited about MS3's.

First of all, I live in Birmingham, AL. I have only owned two beat-up cars (i.e. 1991 Nissan Stanza and 2000 Corolla). I'm 18 years old and will be turning 19 soon. I have been an avid reader of car magazines, websites, forums, and other car related stuff. I had yet to touch a real "sporty car" (except for an SE-R Spec V) until I test drove an MS3 today.

I test drove a 2008 MS3 GT and it was badass. I'm actually going to buy a 2008 Silver Sport that dealer received 3 days ago.

Now, I already put down the deposit telling the dealer to hold the car until next week, by which time I'll have gathered up 25k in cash. I told them upfront that I was going to pay in full and I wanted a discount. I tried to negotiate with the dealer but the dealer flat out said they want MSRP of 23k or they won't sell the car. They told me that they can sell it to somebody else easily. These cars are scarce and high in demand and there are only two dealers that carry MS3's around here. Also, these dealers only get them once in every blue moon. When they come, they are gone in less than 2 weeks.

I've read that some of you guys talked dealers down on the price. How did you guys do it?

BTW, this site is awesome!

Med Center? I paid MSRP for mine last November, but it was one of the first ones in Birmingham.

They arent lying, they will sell pretty quickly. With a high-demand, low volume car like this one, all you can really do is walk in with a check for how much you want to pay and be ready to walk out if they dont accept. In some cases, they'll want to work with you, but I'm guessing in this case, probably not.

Good luck and welcome. I'm in Birmingham too and I drive a Red Speed3 GT.

i only got a few hundred off because the car is so scarce..cars were flying off the lot in a day or two so i got a true red gt the same day i test drove it...the cant do much depending on location of course...but get one as soon as you can, you wont regret it

Or you could wait a couple of weeks since you have the cash. Look further out than AL. Then fly out there and drive back.

there is one in Fort Walton Beach Red Sport Model

I got 250 dollars off at Trussville Mazda. I'll be picking up the car this Saturday. I'll be paying 24.2k out the door. This forum is gonna be so helpful once I get the car!
