Broken Trans!!!!!!

I just rolled 15,000 miles and I was driving and left a light normal but floored it in second then shifted to third slow then floored it again, i heard a few very quiet clicks then i stoped at the next light when i discovered that it wont go itto 1st and 2nd anymore. I can force them in but it just wont move far enough left to go into 1st or 2nd. Any ideas on what happend or if the dealer will cover past 15,000?????

First of all is this an MS3 or regular 3? If it's an MS3 is there probably something wrong with the cables that the MS3 uses to shift. I'm guessing you should be covered by warranty if you only have 15K. Also, if this has nothing to do with your clutch you should be just fine.

If it is the clutch then as long as it shows something broken like the tabs or springs where the linings are connected to the hub, then it should also be warrantied. If the linings are wore out then then it would not.

He never specified if he could put it into a higher gear than 1-2 and if he can get it into a higher gear does the clutch work normally? i.e. can he depress the clutch with the clutch feeling normal, then shift it into 4th gear and let out on the clutch and the car stall out?
If he can then it most definitely is not the clutch and possibly only one shift cable/fork that operates 1-2nd gears.
Either way it should be covered under warranty because a worn out clutch wouldn't stop him from putting it into gear.

Yes its a MS3 and deff not the clutch all gears work just fine only thing is that it seems like it wont go far enough to the left to go up into 1st. like i push it all the way left and its lined up with third not 1st. But all other gears work fine. also i have forge, and cai should i take them off befor the dealer sees it?

Ok i just went out to mess with my car and now it shifts just like normal so it must have something to do with heat or something then i i just parked it last night and thats it havent touched it since

Umm..No...I dont care how friggin hot something gets..it shouldnt stop you from shifting..And yes..if you go to the dealer..you better damn well put your car back to stock.

had to get my transmission replaced at 15500 miles you might have a problem i think allot of my problem had to do with mis shifts .Originally the problem just seems to be it wouldn't stay in 2nd under any kind of load. it would go into any gear just fine though . Wound up being bad bearings in 5th and 6th gears 2nd and third needed to be replaced and the syncro's also . When they finally got it all together they decided to go ahead and replace the whole thing . Got it back the next day after the new trans came in and the shifter cables were bad . Made it real real hard to put in gear you literally had to force it . The whole process took the dealer a total of 29 days in Va you qualify for the lemon law in 30....... I purchased the 100,000 mile extended warranty and got Mazda to do my Cai I asked about the motor mount and they said that wouldn't void the warranty but I wouldn't try going in there with anything else on there not mazdaspeed branded. Isn't basic like 36,000 anyway you should be ok I believe.

Oh yeah and I expect the clutch to go soon too i don't know if they went ahead and replaced it while they were in there but it did slip on me again the other day real bad brake smell it seemed like .

God this scares the piss out of me to hear all of this. I just got a speed3 and it has been to the dealer 2 times already to try and prove the squeeking clutch pedal issue. I only have 456 miles on the clock so far!

One post about a broken tranny (that's probably not really broken) and you're scared? A squeaking clutch pedal is nothing to lose sleep over. It'll probably go away over time. You just got the car, get comfortable with it before sh*tting bricks about every little thing you hear. The powertrain warranty is good for 60k miles for those who didn't know.

they replaced my 2nd and 3rd gear along with the syncros, my second was not staying in shift sometimes and popped out, they changed 3rd because it was a little messed up too. Its mainly misshift errors and i think the nice STRONG stock motor mount is to blame

Just to chime in, I had a 2005 3 before my 2007 MS3, and neither one was ever in the shop for anything mechanical/breaking. The 3 went once outside scheduled maintenance because a clip on the front bumper slipped off. My MS3 has been in once outside maintenance for the recall motor mount issue. Other than than, 20k miles between the two, and no issues.

I replaced that rear one as soon as I got the new tranny in.. hope it works out so far i've only mis shifted once......
