Broken Seat Belt Buckle? Help please!

2003 Mazda Protege LX
Hey all!
So a few weeks ago, the warning light on my 2003 Protege LX that shows if you're buckled in or not always stayed on. I didn't really think anything of it, so I didn't so anything about it. Anyways, yesterday I tried to buckle myself in (the driver's seat, of course), and within a few seconds, it had fallen out. I found that the button on the buckle is stuck in the depressed position. This makes me think that a spring has broken.
I really would love to try to fix this myself, but sadly, I am a college student living far away form home right now, and only have access to the basic tools I brought along.
Does anybody have any ideas as to if I could fix this myself? Or is it a job for the shop?
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: So I guess I should mention that I'm in the western part of Michigan (Right by Grand Rapids), and we've had subzero temperatures this week. I last used it on Wednesday, and it was working just fine, but when I hopped in yesterday, Saturday, this problem occurred. It has recently warmed back up to the low 30's. Not really sure if that would cause any problems, but there it is.

Thank you for that thread! I was trying to find one, but was apparently using the wrong search terms.
