Broken Recall Motor Mount

That isn't the mount that broke, it is the bracket between the mount and transmission. Sorry to hear, I hope this isn't going to be a problem for anyone else.

well it is.....

A local dealership "claims" to have dont the recall on my car, even after they "fixed" it the car still always pulls to the left and my alignment has been out of whack since 1k miles. Im going to take my battery out and then check the mount for myself this spring. I highly doubt they actually did the recall work they claim they did.

Sorry to hear about your mount, man. Mine broke too during regular shifting onto the freeway. This was after dealer(Temecula) had claimed it was taken care of and even showed me a computer document stating that this recall was taken care of. When i dropped the car off at the nearest dealership(San Diego) after the freeway break down, the service manager there told me his tech found the recall not taken care of (obviously!). He found it weird cause sure enough the recall was marked done from the other dealership(Temecula) that i purchased the car from. This all happened a couple months ago and just yesterday i found a huge dent in my MS cai.

Wow...

Can't say i'm not nervous! I wonder if i should have it written in my contract that when I buy the car, these things will be fixed. Any tsb or recall info?

Just to clarify, this is the bottom up view of the transmission mount, right? It looks like the transmission mount and bolt (that was under the recall) held okay. But it looks like the bracket that the mount was holding wasn't strong enough. So by strengthening the mount-to-bracket bolt, they' just transferred the failure from the mount to the nearest bracket.

BTW, did you guys upgrade your rear mount?

Man, someone needs to come up with a similar bracket made of steel. I'm hoping these were just a weak batch. I'm also hoping that Mazda is seeing this.

This might sound weird but I wonder if it's possible to chain the whole assembly up as an added precaution? At least if it broke the chain would prevent the tranny from falling on the axle.

Is the cast aluminum part broken off the top of the transmission case?

So sorry to hear about what happened man. This really sucks! Would upgrading the rear motor mount (or adding the inserts) solve this potential problem instead of having the dealership do recall work on it to "fix" it, since obviously it didn't work in this case?

cost to much for mazda to do things right theyll just screw everyone out of there waranty! i cant belive the crap this company is getting away with!

Yo ******* Mazda voided my warranty for the mount breaking and now my car is stuck 120 miles away from me and they want 1400 to fix. bulls*** huh. AND they said that they found the pictures i posted here and weren't going to cover me why i dont know since the OP's car broke Exactly the same way mine broke. I got a lawyer and where getting in contact with mazda to fight this.

I am telling you right now this is bull s*** and you need to contact Autoblog and get them involved. You need to read what has been going on for the BMW guys. THis a public forum, they cannot use any of this at all, what a bunch of goof balls. Besides Darksun, how do they know who you are? I dont even know who you are! Certainly nothing wrong with posting pictures!

Please read this. I would also like to help if I could.

Funny thing is they got the picture from THIS exact thread meanwhile the OP has a ton of mods and they still covered him. Me on the other hand they rather void and threaten on the phone to try and get rid of me.

^^ been following the saga on the 'other' forum and I have to agree this is complete bs. Even if the mods contributed to the failure, the 'failure' shouldn't happen with that amount of power period. And the mount is known weak point even on stock cars.

Either Mazda needs to step up the plate with a completely re-designed (or just stronger) mount or we need a quick aftermarket solution to this even if it's just a few cars with the problem. The scary part is there's just no way to know if the problem exists on a car until it breaks. And the whole thing seems like an easy fix.

what i dont get it under warranty the repair would run mazda MAYBE 700 dollars for parts an labor but they rather void me PLUS I have an exstended warranty which is worth 1750 that they under law would have to pay back. Doesn't make sense. fix a car for 700 or give some one 1750.....

I know there reading this too since they have a hard on for me now......

I really think you should contact Autoblog.com, send them an email and let them know what is going on with this particular thread. Besides I am sure they are always looking for a good story and Mazda made national headlines when they released the speed with defective motor mounts, this would just be the icing on top of the cake to see how Mazdas lack of customer support and defective products are being handled.

the only time they void warrenties

the only time they mazda voided a warrenty on a car is when someone used it in a way not intended. modifications, racing, etc....

NOTE: if you break at the local racetrack. pay the $100 and get towed to another place. anywhere but the race track. mazda looks to see where you were towed from.... if it was raceway park or atco in nj. they will know based on the address. also wipe and clean the windows of all ####s and clean the wheel wells of all rubber. the car that got voided that i saw. had all these problems. and mazda won the lawsuit.

good luck with the court stuff. not gonna help though(braindead

What's funny is, the car was built to be used aggressively or raced. So, they'll endorse it, just as long as nothing breaks. If something breaks, you're on your own lol.
