broken motor mount

My brother and I both drive m3s sedans. He slid off the road on some ice about a month ago and its been in the shop for about 3 weeks. The body work was minimal. The front bumper popped out on the edges and the grill had a small crack. However, he said the car was driving wierd at high rpms and the body shop finally took it for a test drive and determined the motor mount is cracked. The under plate of the car was also damaged but the body shop attributed the broken motor mount to poor design. Anyway they sent the car to mazda to fix the motor mount. The accident was so minor but caused such a major problem. Makes me worried and would make me think twice about adding a turbo to a car with weak motor mounts.

yeah you have a point, motor monts can be upgraded thouhg, there are none out yet but i think there will be some soon

I just changed out my mounts (front and sides).. I have a p5 btw..

the drivers side mount was torn compeletly off.. the middle part fell out of the mount when I took it out of the car..

the front mount was just torn on one side.

definatly get urethane ones if going turbo..

Not going turbo yet, just wondering. I'm about 40,000 miles from getting a turbo.
