Bought my '09 yesterday

After researching for way too long I bought my '09 MGM GT yesterday. Build date 07/08. No nav, with only options being wheel looks and floor mats. Absolutely enjoying the car thus far, and am looking forward to more spirited driving after 600 miles or so. So far I've only ventured to 5k (briefly) on a few up shifts, but self control is damn difficult when the road is open and the boost is flowin'. This will be my first turbo owned, but I've wanted one ever since I drove a new Shelby Charger and GLH back in 1985. Other priorities prevented that. So, better late than never!
 
haha my dealer said no break in. So I didnt, I also dont have a smoking turbo etc:) Car runs fine, I can kind of believe in the no break in these days. With tolerances being so close compared to the old days, cars should require less of a break in. I have a friend with a 785whp rx7, now granted this is a race car only, but he only does 3 heat cycles (full warm up, full cool down) And thats its.
 
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I just checked my MPG on the trip computer since leaving the dealer...19 for the first 100 miles. Boost=ga$. I still like the ability to get better economy than the other car I was considering (G8 GT) simply by keeping my foot out of it.
 
My best tank was 20 mpg all city and that was the first tank it had. Now with almost 900 miles on it, I can only get 19.6 mpg city with some spirited accels

With regards to the quote, has anyone used AccessPort to regulate themselves while driving? MPG is important and when I try I would like to keep fuel costs low.

AccessPort has ECU maps for fuel economy, straight up stock, valet (limits RPM to 3k, very low boost). I'm thinking of getting an AP. My (ir)rational thought process is that I could use the ECU to help fight my temptation to gas on when I know I shouldnt, i.e. when I want to save on fuel
driving with old boring people, wee little kids, in well known speed traps.

Anyone have similar thoughts or better yet experience with the AP doing such things?

Don't waste your money. The fuel saving map does little or nothing and the power map does little or nothing as well.(yupnope)
 
Hey Mr,

Just put some sort of intake on it and you'll not only gonna get power, but the fuel mileage will go up 2-3 mpg. Mine did with the Cobb SRI and ECU reset..it was amazing, now with low to no boost, city I'm getting no less then 25 mpg.
 
Oh and I only have 2200mi on my 08.5 GT, so it really does make a difference, had it installed with only 300miles on her.
 
its true i noticed with my cobb sri my mpg's went up pretty good
 
I drive mostly highway miles and I average about 28 MPH, however city driving is a significant difference, but well worth it

Welcome, you will enjoy and can be economical at the same time.
I as you was very interested in MPG (commute 110 a day), had my 08 delivered with MSCAI & MSCBE and after initial break in and changing to full synthetic oil, I have been getting city/HWY 27-28 and 32 HWY so I am pleased with just 20-23 gal a week instead of my old Ford van at 44 gal a week. That and Will Power! (whip) will do it!
