boosting 9psi on stock

Speed3.5

chasing electrons ..

16' Mazda3, MSP
well i'm boosting 9psi on stock , just got my boost gauge on and what you know the needle won't pass 9.5 mark at whole time (and i didn't even went over 41000rpm) on 2nd, 3rd , 4th i let it go
Is it a bit high , any thing i should look/concern for .......... ??
any suggestions will do , but must be acurate (evil)

edit:
the vacume is around 25 hg and sometimes goes 30 hg , will that help on determining why i boost, hold, spike at 9 psi ??

do you have any mods? if not then no that is not safe. and you should check for a bad wastegate??or somehting cause you shouldnt be boosting 9 stock

even if you are WOT it stays at 9.5 ? and it reachs 9.0 below 4k rpm? Sounds like a wastegate issue possibly. Sounds like it might be sticking shut. But you haven't provided sufficient information for troubleshooting.

yeah bone stock , got some parts seating around but nothing in yet
I guess its not safe even though i do watch it carefully when i boost just to make sure not to punch it like nuts.
i was even thinking of putting that atp 6psi one but now don't know what should i check first .......... ?????
help

i wouldnt even actually enter boost lol if i was you. stock boost is about 6 psi. and to run 9 stock is suicide for your motor. you may luck out for now. but eventually it will catch up to you. we dont have exclipses or anything like that. the protege is its own monster

agreed. especially if u spike higher and then bye bye turbo.

Well my car boosts at about a 10 spike at settles in around 8 but I have a DSM AFC and I have had no problems so far, and I'm at 44k

i would atleast get and intake, hard pipes, and exhaust. also a AFC. plus you have to make sure the intercooler is cooling the air at that boost level

well its much safer if you have an AFC.

Speed3.5..... i would check your wastegate actuator, pull off the vac line running to it and blow in it, if it lets air through then you need a new wga. Thats a simple troubleshooting thing that might point you to the solution, or can at least help us rule things out.

Does it hold at 9 psi, or is it a quick spike??

that'll be the first thing as soon the snow stops
I've never done anything to the car but i've raced on the street few times and didn't liked the boost didn't went that fast you know
now that gauge is on and i was trying to see what was the boost the neddle would radle at 9 psi the whole time while on WOT and i did went smooth not quick

if i shift bef 3k rpm's i barely pass 5 psi and i get that close when i'm in 3rd gear and shift to 4th , keeping it safe the whole time even when i didn't had the gauge cuz i was aware of s*** like this would happen so now it does.....

i'm about to put in a e-manage blue but waiting for a wb to toon my car
biggy bag will furfill my needs for now

I installed a dual stage Turbosmart boost controller today. I was spiking at 9.5 settling at 7.5, but after the boost controller went on I was spiking 14, holding 10-11 (scary!!!!!!!) and the car was a whole new machine. Too bad I about pissed my pants because I had the boost controller turned all the way down on both stages!

Needless to say I disconected it, and am back spiking at 9.5. I should be safe pretty much though, my AFRs were still running rich at super boost mode. (shrug) I don't know what the hell is going on with this boost controller.

I used a different 12V dual pole switch than what they gave me, so I may change that out and see if it is the problem.

knox i see you have the nitto tires , how you like em , they worth it ??

by the way knox you have some mods , i don't

so you're most likely to not worry as much as me , even though i was happy at first when i saw boosting that much for the first time w/ the proof of the gauge

these tires are gone man. The treadwear is crazy. I haven't even had them 10000 miles and they are looking rough.

Guess I should quit driving mountain roads at twice the posted speed limit.

Yeah, I've got a couple supporting mods, so I don't know.

i was holding at around 10-15 psi when my wga was bad so....
