Boost not noticable until very high RPM

take it to them and say u have the issue so it gets put on ur record for future reference.....if u do have engine issues down the road u can say u told them so :) make sure and get good gas and just take care of the car....i get up to redline once in a while...if the engine goes...god forbid...im gonna be on their ass like they were some prime rib

s*** that sucks.... so something could happen at any time basically...
well there's different forms of pre-ignition/detonation...some worse than others, but we still shouldn't have this at stock boost, its not good.

yeah i know this sucks so much... dont want to have to leave my car at the dealership for another long period of time

i'm glad i'm not the only one who gets pinging at stock boost...

yes i do use premium, always.

i've told the dealer about pinging at higher rpm's..they go drive it and say its fine. they told me i shouldnt be that high up in the rmps anyway because the car looses power after 5500 or some bs like that...

see what we have to deal with..its like an uphill battle with this car all the time. now i have a brand new Greddy Profec B spec II just sitting in my room because i dont even want to put it in now when my ******* car pings at stock boost..

i've been saying this for awhile, about the pinging, etc and no one really cared..but i think its pretty sad when a car is having detonation problems at 6-7 psi....
Damn I feel for you guys. Mine runs ******* great at 12PSI and even at 15PSI it did not ping. Now I am not going to run 15PSI it was just during the time that it was "wigging" out on me and runing crazy high boost it still goes to about 13 under quick RPM change but it drops to 6 qucikly. For a while after the dealer installed the new hoses it would hit 15PSI and STAY THERE!
It never ever presented me with a problem and I HAMMERED the **** out of it for a lot of the miles now to see if it would explode.
I do take great care of my car, only synthetic oil, WIX filters all maintainence done on time etc.
BTW my car is all stock right now and has been for some time. I figured why use a boost controller when the factory gave me 15PSI :)
Once I have bought a used Saturn to run around in I will then build it right. 300 WHP here I come WOOHOO!
Practical? No. Fun? Oh Hell yeah!

Good luck to all you pinging fuckers out there...
Peace out my bruthas and sistas ....
Oh,and My boost hits hard from 2500 on up WHAM, turkey, shift, WHAM, turkey, shift. Lather, rinse, repeat.

crazy how much variation in performance/quality these cars have

yeah... im just going to take it easy with my car for now until i can get it to the dealership
i bought this car expecting something amazing..... i must say i was shocked

fuel pump i'm not sure about, but i don't think its the maf sensor or pcm. i need to get that mazda fuel injector cleaner, maybe the injectors are clogged...wishful thinking i guess. i still think its just an inherant problem without any easy fixes...

no..but i always use good brands...mobil, chevron, shell....

ok ive heard all this about pinging and i understand what it is. my car doesnt do this, i dont think, but just to make sure, what excactly does this "rattle" sound like to know that youre pinging?

If the car is knocking/pinging, then its probably lean enough to feel pretty strong. Especially in the lower RPM.
Its easy enough to hear the boost in the car, even stock.
heres 2 suggestions. Find a buddy with a boost gauge and hook it up, or get a cone filter, and put it on. You will DEFINATELY hear the boost then.

Im not totally convinced his car is pinging.

audible knock/ping/detonation suonds like someone is throwing rocks at your heat shield. Its a loud, rapid.. TING PING PING PING TING sorta sound.
I ran my car on pump gas to 17psi once, and the car did not knock.
Ive run consistent 13psi with no knock.

Also, forgot to mention.
Reset the ECU, and drive it hard, it should relearn and adjust for more fuel and airflow.

A car tha runs lean will usually feel very quick just before the detonation. A lean car is a fast car, right up till the point that it blows up... Are you experiencing this??

LOL i know nothing on my car makes that pinging sound described and ive used 91octane from shell from the first time i bought the car and now 10800 miles later (w/ 2800-3100m oil changes) i seem to be in tiptop shape. is the car runnin lean something that is just random on diff engines? can it have anything to do w/ climate?

there's a lot of factors...air temp, fuel quality, etc, etc...but when you've narrowed them down and tried troubleshooting these problems for awhile, you'll see how frustrating it can be..
