boost gauge options.

I want to get a boost gauge at some point, but I cant decide if I should get an analog or a digital like the Dash hawk. Regarding the DH, what functions does it display for the MS6? Is does have a boost display right, if so how accurate opposed to an analog is it? I think I might go for the DH if its a good product, because I don't have to worry about getting a pod or running wires and hoses.

the DH will give you all kinds of readings and allow you to map it out. I don't own one so I can't say for sure, but i believe it has boost (read off the ECU).

a true boost gauge will give you actual pressures in your vacuum, and should be more accurate (in thoery at least). plus they are cheaper.

it all comes down to your priorities. if you plan on modding and want to watch EVERYTHING including AFR, knock, etc, then the DH may be the way to go. if you just want to monitor your boost and save some money, then boost gauge.

The DH can read both boost and boost/vac, depending on what you set it up to monitor. It pulls this right from the ECU, as wannabe said.

I've heard there can be minor discrepancies between a boost gauge and the DH, but the differences are close enough to negate.

You can monitor a host of other parameters simultaneously with the DH, which makes it a nice addition for the money.

well I also plan on getting a COBB AP, does that have to also stay plugged to the diagnostic port? so ill prob go with a analog boost gauge, I like the defrost vent pod one, where can i get the best price for it along with what kind of gauge should i get, I want the ghost gauge by prosport? i think, not sure if its spelled right.

No, it doesn't have to stay plugged in. You can use it for datalogging, but IMO, the DH does the job better, especially for use as a gauge.

Do a little searching about Prosport gauges, they seem to be a mixed bag as well.

And yes, I should have my defrost pod up in the FS section tomorrow (hopefully).

How much do you want for the pod? what size gauge will it take, I will look at prices for DH.

I won't announce a price for the pod until I take the proper pictures for it (forum rules), but it's a 60mm pod. Keep an eye out for a used one, you should be able to find one for under $200.

What type of gauge is better electrical or mechanical? Do you have to run a hose to both? Never installed a boost gauge cause this is my first boosted car. Thanks

I was looking into doing something like this in my car also. I looked into the dashhawk a little bit, but i found an aeroforce scan gauge and decided if I was going to do a digital reading I would get that.

I once again changed my mind and decided i wanted to get the CP-E three gauge pod on top. I like the look of the analog gauges better and they are more accurate.

dh does not read boost.. not live anyway.. its reads vacuum pressure.. the only good live data is.. ect/ait maybe fuel pressure and voltage too? but no live boost reading..youll need a gauge

It does a good job of showing vac/boost on the DH. Most people who don't want to shell for a second gauge, it's more than sufficient for what they need.

I will be putting up my 60mm Defrost Vent Pod and STRI Electric Amber boost gauge (all new and never installed) for sale very soon.
