well guys, i'm pretty new to the board and i've been searching like crazy with no result. I would like to know which brand boost controller would work the best for a stock MSP. I want to boost about 9lbs. or more if I can with stock internals and all. Please, anyfeedback would be appreciated, i'm new to this whole turbo thing.

There is no "Best" one. I would recomend getting an Electronic Controller, They are more $$$ but they can actively control the Boost and stop "Creep"

Turbo XS is another DSBC. I have one and it works great. No spike in stage one and only a 1-2 psi spike in stage two. Whatever model you choose, it would be wise to get a 2 stage unit. These units offer faster spool and the ability to raise the boost to a preset psi on the fly. EBC's are about $100 more.

Do you have an upgraded exhaust system?

I m using the HKS EVC5... I think they all do the same thing... The only thing i dont' like its they use kpa instad or psi or bar...

I'd say boost science. I like it a lot with the tuning kit so you can adjust the boost spike and spool up time.

For an MBC, I hear good things about the boost-sciences model. There was a group buy for a dual stage kit with mounting brackets and everything recently. I plan on getting this. I missed the first round, but there are some more being prepared and will be available soon. (I spoke with 505zoom about them.)

Dont Go Cheap. If it's fuckked it could really **** your motor. Get one from a known company and Like I suggest. Electronic!

I am using the Blitz SBC i-D III boost controller with the Blitz PerfectPower III car computer.

I love it 4 different boost settings, plus speed mapping, which allows me to set boost via MPH (great to reduce wheel spin out of the hole.)

lets see what else it is a badass boost guage, tells me realtime mph, whp being used at that very moment, has a built in Chassis Dyno, quarter mile times 1/8 and 3/2 mile as well. can also read any three signals coming from my ECU and does datalogging

and I think there are a few more things, but i forgot...

No,,,i haven't upgraded my exhaust...i am completly stock.

That Will make a big Diference as long as there is no E-Testing.

You can get a Cat from a junkyard and Gut it. Swap The Empty one for the good one whenerver you need to get a E-Test.

my other question is this....can i run a boost controller on stock parts or do I need to buy a wastegate or other parts to make it work correctly? Thanks guys...i'm really trying to get a grasp on turbo's.

stock wastegate is fine, but you should take other precautionary step if you want to decrease the chances of detonating/preigniting that may come from increasing your boost in stock form. Your internals will hold fine at 9psi if you avoid detonation.

this is good reading to tell you what it is and what you can do to help prevent it: http://www.misterfixit.com/deton.htm

That was a great link. I printed it out and read it on the crapper. Left it for the next person who cares :)(2thumbs)

The Greddy Profec B Spec 2 is pretty good and easy to use if u have any questions ask cullen at **********.com he knows hiz sh!t. I have that one and it works great and car responds good w/ sock internals. Cullen helped me install and tune it. Runnin 10lbs...

thanks guys....looks like Greddy is going to be the choice, unless someone has some other ideas.
