Blue vs. Gray in one more day

Black Majik,

Is that your titanium MSP? If so, thanks for posting them. Those are the pics (from another thread) I emailed to my wife a few days ago that made that color her first choice. But we're still waiting to see if one "wows" us more than the other when they're side by side. The blue will have to be significantly nicer (a touch lighter and better metallic character would be good) than the "WRX blue" to win us over. Blue has always been my favorite car color even though I've only been able to own a single one (dark blue '89 Toyota MR2) and it wasn't as vibrant as the more recent variations. So that says a lot for the titanium that I like it just as much.

Thanks,
Gary

Newf,

You do a great job of "capturing the essense" of the titanium. You're selling me on it--I was probably already 60% of the way there to start. But, we'll make that final choice tomorrow on the lot. All the input from everyone has helped. I also agree that the darker rims are just right for titanium. I'm looking forward to less of a noticeable brake dust problem with the darker ones--my BMWs were always horrible about front wheel brake dust.

My last concern: will my wife be OK with the ride which I read described as "skateboard quality" in a Car & Driver review? She got used to my stock '88 BMW M3 (although it was borderline too rough for her), likes the upgraded H&R/heavy duty Bilstein suspension of my '74 BMW 2002tii, and has a new GMC Envoy (truck frame) for her daily driver and doesn't mind that. So I'm hoping it will "pass" with her since it's not like she's used to a Lincoln Town Car or anything wallowy.

Thanks,
Gary

I heard the C&D skateboard quality ride comment and laughed at the time. My girlfriend laughed too. The ride is plenty plush, unless you get the clunk ! I won't go there.
It's a lot softer than my last car, which was a lowered Integra.

i have a black MSP, and its always dirty. Probably the last black car i ever own, even though it is my favorite color... The titanium and blue are both extremely nice, but i would pick blue. Just a little bit of flash, but not eye grabbing yellow or orange.

PS. Does ANYONE have a silver MSP yet? Mazda Made a mistake in offering this car in 2 shades of gray... SHoulda made a red one..

ride is not harsh at all. Car and driver are just a bunch of old farts. Ride is harsher in my mp3, a LOT harsher. Going back and forth all the time it is obvious. I actually find some Protege LX's harsher then the mp3...yet alone the speed. I've driven some older BMW's, you'll be fine.

YEP, that's mine & I love it! IMO, dark tint makes the car look 10x better. I agree with Newf that the 03.5 rims look perfect on the Titanium...it's actually making me 2nd guess wanting to sell them.

I liked Titanium but Laser Blue just came out....you don't see that many Laser Blue MSP. The down side....I think Titanium and spicy orange is unique to MSP not Lazer blue or blazing yellow. I think Mazda produces Laser blue P5 and protege :(

I would say blue because I don't see that many blue MSP. Of course im bias! Both colors looks good with gold rims! Here is my ride!

I thought the Titanium was too dark for my liking so I wanted something lighter so blue was the only other color. Plus there was only 1 blue left and 3 titaniums when I bought mine.

Hey what happend to your mazdaspeed emblem on the back of your car?

I took all 3 of them off & they are all sold & gone. I think the rear looks so much cleaner without the badges. Eventually, I'm gonna get them filled & painted, but for now I just have some 3M VHB tape on the inside of the trunk. It really isn't even that noticeable & now I don't have to worry about getting police attention from the MazdaSPEED badge.

I still don't understand this badgeless look. to me it just looks like there's something missing, and I would NEVER add paint to this kind of paint. Just asking for trouble imho.

The Titanium is beutiful but it seems like everyone has that color. The Blue looks good also and I have never seen an MSP on the road with that color. Down the road though, that Titanium would seem to hard to touch-up with all the nicks and scratches that could be had on a daily driver. Winner for me would be the Blue.
