Blind Spot beep + Headlight volume

Thanks brillo. That makes sense.

RDK, if you adjust the volume of the beeps, does that work?

Okay, this may be my mistake - one of semantics. Yes, if I turn on/up the volume (on the info screen), there is a small "beep." I had it set to "off" before so I didn't hear it. But what I'm talking about is the HORN beeping once or twice when I lock/unlock the car. Is there any way to turn off the horn? - which is what I thought the volume control meant. It seems ridiculous for there to be a second beep since the horn beep is so much louder.

No, we're on the same page. You can set the horn volume when it beeps on lock to low - med- high or off. Off does not seem to work for you. Does it work if you change how loud?

Ha! Well at least I'm not going crazy or doing something stupid (I hope). Horn volume is unchanged whether set to off or any any volume. The other beep does go off when set to off. Like I said, not a big deal. If I can't figure it out beforehand, I'll ask the dealer when/if I go in for first servicing. This is the first new car I've had in over 15 years so there're a lot of new gadgets and electronic features that I'm not familiar with. Heck, my other car still has a key that I need to turn. :D

Strange, my horn doesn't beep at all for these types of notifications, or any notifications. I get the beeps from something other than the horn.

What do you mean "the other beep"?

In addition to the horn there's another, different beep - which is the one that my info screen apparently controls the volume of. I had it turned to "off" so the only one I did here was the horn, which beeps once or twice upon locking or unlocking the car, no matter how the volume is set.

Yeah, that's the one that the (or at least my) volume control on the infotainment screen controls.

For anyone who still cares, I resolved the problem! Found the answer here, from a nearly 10-year old post about a 2006 Mazda 3. :D Apparently it was an issue with a dealer installed security system. I followed the simple instructions and everything seems to work perfectly now.

edit: for some reason this forum won't let me post a link to the other forum. If you're interested, replace the ****s with "m*a*z*d*a*3*f*o*r*u*m*s"

Wow - is there some reason we're prohibited from even mentioning that other forum?
