So i get off of work 2day and on my way home i get on it, smoke everywhere. i pull over and look around not much. then i pull the dipstick from the oil and i see coolant in the oil. i towed the car home and went to the beach. im about to go outside and pull the head and see whats up.I think i didnt TQ the head down enough the first time and it lifted. If its just a HG ill have the car running so i can goto the street races 2night.
Ill post pics later.

good luck with that.

you shouldn't be blowing head gaskets at 14 PSI,you resurfaced the head, and block before sticking them together right?

BTW,you should consider useing a torque angle gauge when doing these head gaskets,to ou know you are at the right angle.

not a bad price, consideing whats in it,(curious whats in the tranny)

bump to know about the head bolts or studs

yes of course i have arp head studs(i actually have 2sets). the heads off, i lifted the head because i didnt TQ it down enough when i first put it on, arp told me 60lbs and its alot more then that. the head lifted along time ago. o well maybe with the right tq specs ill be able to go 116+ traps now :)

i am fan of stock hardware over ARP and i know i am not the only one :)

let me know if you need a new gasket cwill

thanks for the offer. i have the head back on the car and TQ down. i just have to put cams back in and set the timming. wow i really messed around today its 1:40am. o well. ill be driving it 2morrow. the longest part was cleaning the block and head.

you sure you don't wanna run TTY bolts?

DO they make an dO-ringed HG for this motor?
That would be nice if they did.

I am just a believer that these TTY bolts were specificly designed for this head, block, gasket combo.
I know there was a lot more research in the TTY bolts then the old stud style, stronger is not always better.

just as the MLS gasket is specificly designed for alluminum heads, and cast steel blocks.

just not sure why you would want to go to use old out dated technology instead of useing a more researched, and proven design.

I replace an average of3-6 headgaskets a week, some are TTY,some studs, but it is EXTREMELY rare for me to have to do a headgasket with TTY,and a MLS gasket, and when I do,it's almost always from severly overheating.

keep in mind, this is just my opinion

Hey wicked can i reuse the tty bolts again I blew my motor can i reuse them once. Opinions.
