Billet Grilles

I'm looking for a billet grille for my P5. I'd really like one that has an edge around it or a body colored bezel that can be mounted in front of it. Any suggestions? So far, all I've found is the Precision EZ Solid grille and it seems awfully pricey.

Thanks,

Andy

They are awfully pricey, but you have to think it is a full grill replacement, not just a slip over piece of mesh.

I don't know what you are talking about as far as being body-colored. I painted the top side of my bars blue on my billet grill, and it was a pain in the ass to tape everything off. Anyways I love the billet grill, it looks great in person, and it is a change of pace from the usual mesh seen on our cars.

check out my pics see if you like it.
Search for "pics of jsahyoun's MP3" I cant post.

have you looked into the mintblue grille....it is somwhat of a billet/fan sorta style, and it has a edge and is body-coloured

Matrix....you do mean around $200 each right, for a total of $400. I've looked online and the Precision website sells both grilles for around $500 while protege5online sells both for $425. $425 is better but I'm trying to see if I can find what I want for more along the lines of $200. Any thoughts?

jsahyoun....I can't seem to find any pics of your ride when I search for the words you gave me.

Andy

yeah Mintblue..they're from Japan..here's a pic of their grille..dont get a billet grille, they're ugly

And then there's the autoexe grille, which there's a Group Buy going on rigght now for:

MarkSparks,

Thanks for the info. Both the mintblue and the autoexe look pretty good. Is it possible to mount the less expensive classic billet grilles behind the autoexe? Is it just the bezel around the edge or does it have something in the middle...mesh, etc? Does the mintblue carry a grille for the lower section on the bumper? Any links you have to their websites or distributors that carry them would be helpful.

Thanks,

Andy

u can purchase a fiberglass replica of the autoexe grill for below $200.. then add the grill of your choice (billet, mesh, etc.)

people are selling the replicas here.. just search

Thanks dreeza!

jsahyoun,

It's hard to see real good in the pic but seems like the billet looks good. I assume you have just a basic classic billet grille, right? How much of a gap is the between the edge of the grille and the body area of the car?

Thanks,

Andy

Hey! They're not ugly! They're just a matter of like or dislike, I happen to like mine and think it looks great. Despite the fact that the other P5's I run into on the street don't even realize it's a friggin' 5 I'm driving b/c of the grille. Insolent peasants.

LOL clownphish....yeah, it is a matter of personal preference. Thanks for posting the pics of yours. My P5 is black too and the only pics I've seen with billet grilles have been the brighter colors. Looks good with the classic style billet....doesn't seem like there is too much gap between the grille and the body...do you happen to have any pics that show that aspect closer up?

Thanks,

Andy

i used to have the billet.. then i got the autoexe and they went to the phishie.. i got alot of props from the older guys with them.. now with my autoexe stuff i get looks from the rice boys.. its all what your going for. -=)
John

Well, I fall into the "old guys" category....probably why I like the billet grille look....LOL!

Andy

LOL....yup, that's me....."older". It's funny cuz I look at some of the things the younger crowd does to their cars and think they are crazy or I don't like how it looks and I instantly hear my Dad saying that to me when I was doing the "in" thing to my car when I was a teenager. Amazing how the styles differ from generation to generation. Guess I fall into the "old school" youngin crowd ;-)

Andy

The grille is awesome. It fits perfect with the body. The gap is almost nonexistent. Wait till you get it.

There is no way an autoexe will fit with the billet. The billet just fits way too tight. I gues it might fit if you did some serious hacking. But it just would 't be right.

I have the classic style i believe. But I bought mine almost a year and a half ago. If I were to buy mine now, I might get the other style?(don't know what it' called). They dont rust either believe me I have had mine through two Mihigan winters. Pefect.

Why look like every other pro on this forum with autoexe or a replica and some kind of black mesh. Its too much. Change is too look different, not the sameI can honestly say that I have never seen another MP3 where I live with my grill.

Thanks for posting Andrea

Unfortunately I don't have any closer pics, I'll have to *cough* clean my car *cough* and then take some more when there's a little more light sometime this week. Like mypfizzle said it's all in what you're going for. I loved 'em since the first time I saw them, fortunately I got a great hookup ;). It's definitely different, like I said before, other P5 drivers (laymen I mean :p) won't know it's the same car. :D
