I drive 60 miles each way to work. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to help ext. my MPG. I have done nothing to my P5 yet. It's a 2003 with 50k!! I need help!! I spend almost $400.00 a month on gas. Any suggestions would be great
Thanks (cheers)

New air filter, new fuel filter, spark plugs, use injector cleaner in the gas tank. Don't use AC.

The P5 is not known for its efficient gas mileage. I take comfort in the fact that the Nissan Sentra SER has even worse mileage. The Civic has better mileage but has absolutely no torque (I had a 2001 LX).

I find that I had slightly better gas mileage with the sport exhaust on - made no sense!

Trade it in for an echo, TDI golf, carolla, or prius/insight.
Or get a motorcycle.

if i did all highway driving going around 75 MPH I get close to 30 if not a little over if i am easy on the throttle. that is with not using AC.....

yeah, make sure you have good plugs and a clean filter.....bump the pressure up to 36-37 in your tires.....

Remove roof rack load bars if you ar not using them.....

little things will add up......

Does it depend on the type of bike? My neighbor has a CBR1000 XX and he claims it gets 20 -25 mpg.

Thats because hes ripping it up at 12000 rpm shifts.
Most bike, especialy the beter onese these days, get decent millage as they have fuel injection and are very light. Mine is WAY over wieght and carburated and I get much better the 25 miles a gallon.

It has more to do with the rider/driver. I can get anywhere from 16-26 miles per gallon in my STI, its all in how I drive it.

Guess what my favorite color is. At least you don't have a speed, we get worse mpg than the 5s. Then with mods it got worse.

Try to draft behind semi's. Aerodynamics are getting better with todays cars, but I noticed a huge difference on my old '90 civic.

If you have money (you'd probably just buy the gas) get some sort of engine management computer (stand-alone or piggyback). Use it to lean out your fuel mixture while on the highway. You don't need the torque and the stock computer doesn't compensate as much as it should for highway cruising.

Get a new differential to decrease your final drive ratio. I know they make ones that increase your final drive for racing, but 3500 k RPM around 70-75 mph is pretty darn high.

Only 60? The P5's suck gas over 65 mph/3500 or so RPM. I get better gas milage city than highway with my 5. Kinda sad. I drive 100-130 miles a day. I get 28-32mpg with a few mods.

Himalayan Yeti, Brazilian coffee, Intel motherboard! Quick, what's your favorite? (hah)

and whats really weird about this thread is that people are actually replying to this thread like they all know exactly what it means.

LOL, it's funny, but it's all good.

BTW, your avatar is very distracting too. (glare)

Is it wetter underwater if you're there when it rains?
Is it shorter to New York than it is by a plane?
Between myself and I, I wonder who's the dumber.
Is it hotter down south than it is in the summer?
