Best wheel and tire bundle you would get for your mp3?

well, finally got my car back from the dealer after 7 days of suffering with a Ford Taurus. Felt like heaven, anyway, they replaced the bushings fixed here and there blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the mechanic told me im done with my tires... he asked me how many times i have rotated them since i bought it... NONE he told me that uneven wear was causing a lot of road noise come into the car and that at this point it was kinda not convenient to rotate them (almost 16k miles)

Sooo.... with "uneven weared" tires, 2 wheels missing the center cap, and knowing our wheels are pretty heavy and after reading some old issue of SCC about wheel weight and acceleration trough gears, seems like my best bet is grab some extra work hours and replace the whole thing.

Im up for sugestions, i want to go for the best thing out there for tires and good looking light weight wheels, thx for any help guys


PS. By the way, at what psi were we supposed to inflate the OEM tires?

Rota Subzero's with Kuhmo's available through Rishie: ARD P5
Volks, with Pirelli PZero's available through Rishie
Giovanni Wheels with Parada's available through Rishie
OZ Chrono wheels available through guess who?

Racing Hart would be nice too. I would post pics of each wheel, but I don't want to suck up the space on the board. I think you got the idea of who to go to for wheels, hehe.... Try to get some wheels that weigh around 17lbs or less. Of course, the less they weigh, the more they'll cost.

Man, that sucks. I rotate my tires every oil change. They always ask, so I might as well do it then wince they are reminding me. Also, since these tires are z rated and so soft, (expensive!!!), I want them to last as long as possible.

I wouldn't worry to much about the tire wear on the dunlops. I have 11k on mine and there is still plenty of tread on them. I expect them to last to 20k (which is amazing for z rated). My friend's civic had bridgestones that were all season tires and they lasted him only 13k miles. Kudos to dunlop, but i wish they made michelon pilots for our size rims

Razhael, to answer your OTHER question...about tire presure...if you will open your drivers door....in the door jam and on the end of the door you will find a name plate on each....I can't remember right now which one it is but I THINK its the one on the door itself....it lists all you would want to know about your stock tires....presures and all.

Big Ben....in our manuals for the cars it recommends to ROTATE the tires every 3750 miles....

so....I do the same thing YOU do...makes it easier to remember.....just swap them front to back at every oil change.

as its been said...performance tires are NOT CHEAP....so I want them to last as long as I can get them to.

What does everyone think about the BF Goodwrench Scorcher TA's. Are they good performance tires. I know everything about sizes, tread width, tire profile, etc. But I know nothing about what tires are best. I was thinking about getting the yellow stripe scortcher TA's when these go bald. I'm not looking for super performance, but something as good as the Dunlops. Also, if we get 215 instead of 205, will it give us better protection from curbs. And will the 215 fit on our rim width. I would think it would because it isn't that much wider. Any ideas?

The Bridgestone potenza s-03 pole positions are suppossed to be the best tires out right now and tirerack.com is having a sale on them in the size you wanted. And here is a link to info about the tires. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/bridgestone/bs_s03.jsp I don't think you can go wrong with these. If i had the money i'd get them.

BIG BEN : I saw those Scorchers at a show...they look sweet....especially when color matched to your ride...

I actually did some research today on them....and they are rated fairly well for performance, handling, use in the rain, tead wear, the whole nine yards.....you need at least a 7 inch wide wheel/rim to use them. and from what I can fine in a chart...to maintain the nearest to stock diameter, you need to run the 215/40 VR17 they SHOULD fit...depending on any other suspension changes you have made.

Yeah, I just went to tirerack.com and those exact ones are on sale right now for $109 each. That's a really good deal for performance tires. They look sweet too.

just got my bosal installed, and finally had a close look at my tires... OMG ! thats what i get for not reading the manual....
my front tires are like half the tread of what the rear ones!!! ....
and i was going to buy clutch and flywheel next week... oh well...

Rishie is the owner of Auto R&D, his username is ARD P5. Wheelguru is Sean. They run Auto R&D. As for pics of the wheels, I can track pretty much any wheel down for you and post pics if you'd like. Shoot me an email, or PM. The S0-3's are tight, but they're over priced and a bit over rated. For what most MP3 drivers use their car for, Dunlops, Toyo, Nitto, Pirelli P-Zero, Kuhmo, or Yokohomas will do fine at 2/3 the price of the S0-3. You can roll 215/45 or 215/40 if you keep the height stock on the MP3. I believe if you were to lower the MP3 or P5 with 215/45 or 215/40 on any 17 inch wheel, you'll experience some rubbing. Wheelguru has tried pretty much every wheel and tire combo from 17-19 inch wheels on his MP3 a while back. If you're curious about what will work and what won't you should give him a email or PM.
