okay so i am getting ready to undergo a new build for my Spicy, bigger turbo, 440 injectors, new DP, Steedspeed Mani, unichip tune and was wondering if there is a really good ignition setup that would really maximize power potential, Ive heard that the 626 coilpacks make a really good stock solution but is there anything better out there, something MSP specific or a hodgepodge of pieces that work really well?? also I have heard that the nology hotwire set is mostly just for good looks under the hood, is this true?

thanks, the forums input is always welcome!

also I have been tossing up switching from the NGK 7 heat range plugs to the Denso IK22's since they are 1 step colder and gapped perfect for our cars from the factory, any pro's or con's with this decision?

I would go with the denso or ngk gap at .27 one step colder. Ive tried the the pulstar plug and it was awsome but only recomend that for track not daily driveing heated up the engine way to much. Thats my two cents.

i was wondering this also since i think my coil packs are shot and need to be replaced. i dont know if i should go with the 1.8L coilpacks or the nology hotwires

subbin cuz my car was running like crap, then i got some ngk's and gapped them to what autozone told me to and car ran awesome, a month or two later its running like crap again

yep krayzie is right, im currently running 6s until my 7s come in, and im pushin 15psi on a disco potato and it runs fine

I am currently running new coils/boots/wires from beck arnley and ZFR7F-11 plugs gapped to .030 and car still runs like crap, maybe I am looking at this the wrong way, maybe its due to the lack of tuning that I am unhappy or not satisfied with my current setup, I talked to a mazdaspeed specialist here in florida and he had the same problem then switched to denso IK22 plugs and car supposedly ran great after that? I also keep reading about the nology hotwire set and was hoping to get someones feedback that currently or ever owned them, just want to do my build the right way and get everything that I know or have been told works well within a reasonable price!!!!

I use the Pulstars. best plug I've ever used. I use it for a DD and just drove to CO and back from FL with no issues. I'm looking into wiring up an MSD turbo system

Define "runs like crap". I would personally go back to stock coils and wires, and try the stock heat range ZFR6F-11 plugs. Chances are you don't really need colder plugs and those Beck/Arnley coils and wires are crap.

And Nology is a waste of money. I don't know why people often jump on this aftermarket bandwagon.. OEM parts are usually better than the vast majority of aftermarket junk.
has anyone on the forum had experience with this manifold:

http://www.sparktecmotorsports.com/mazda-mazda-protege-forced-induction-turbo-manifolds.html

i know when i was a honda guy OBX was very popular, but for our application would it be best just to spend the $600 for steedspeed
OBX is also crap, and that manifold has a T3 flange so you can't use the stock turbo with it. You're again better off with the stock one but if you can afford the Steedspeed the that's the way to go. That would be money worth spending.

I had that obx manifold when I first switched to T3 and its garbage. I was taking it off every weekend to reweld that piece of crap. You pay for what you get. Spend the money and get the quality.

I'm rocking NGK stage colder with stock coils and wires at 24psi and never had an issue........... except this one time when I was banging off ignition cut launch control at the track and melted the ends of my plugs off lol........ but other than that no issues.
