Best Oil Filter + What Oil Are You Running?

Best Oil Filter?
What do you think the best is? When I say best, I mean a balance of filtration capability combined with high flow capability. Ones like the Baldwin-Hastings (whom make Amsoil filters) are kings of filtration but I have heard they stop flow and to just use a cheapie.

Also, what oil are you running? My shop has been bragging about Eneos and I don't know much about it. It is either that, AMSOIL, Red Line, Schaffers, or Motul.

I started off with K&N with mobil 1 synthetic blend.

I wouldn't trust anything Mazda said about this car. They ****** up in so many places I wouldn't be suprised if they tell you to put tranny lube through the engine!!!

OP - You can use an oil filter from a 626 w/ a KL (v6), it's slightly bigger and filters more efficiently. For motor oil, I run Pennzoil Platinum. It's better than a lot of synthetics that cost double.

I tend to run whatever is on sale... either a mobile 1 or K&N filter, and full synthetic oil.
I'm considering giving amsoil a shot for this next change as my coworker claims it instantly rectified his oil consumption issue. I burn a quart of 5W-30 in 4K miles, 10W-30 I wasn't burning any before this winter... but we'll see what I get on this next change.
As for filters, honestly I don't think what filter you run really makes a ton of difference as long as you're not breaking an engine in, the particulate levels shouldn't be that high.

I run 5w50 Q power. THERES NO ENGINE in this world is built for specific viscosity, ferrari, porsche, bmw, lambo, nissan gtr recommand 5w50 or 10w60 for a reason, because people abuse their car. I will put german castrol next oil change, or shell rotela 5w40.

only UOA will tell the difference, but thicker oil never do bad, and they protect well.

Pure One filter & either Mobil1, Penzoil Platinum or SuperTech 10W30synthetic. Whichever is on the shelf.

A lot of people swear by the OEM filter as being the best.

It's an econobox engine and not a hand assembled performance block, so really it doesn't matter what you use as long as you change both the oil & filter frequently based on how you use your car.

Eneos brings up about 500 questions and no answers. The search 'best motor oil' doesnt answer questions for my app, my car is different than everyone elses and wanted to get up to date information given recent reformulations.

I read that article on this forum (minus the recommendations). I have a Master's Degree in the field of Gerontology and 2/3 of that article is jibberish.

What do you mean your car is different from everyone elses'? You're in the Mazdaspeed Protege section...

Being an expert of geriatrics does not translate to the physical science behind motor lubrication. I highly doubt you read that article through. If you did, read it again and take your time.

i run 10w30 and mobil filter. i burn a lot of oil but i burn the least with this combo
