hey i just got my mp3 yesterday and im lookin into and exhuast... whats the best sounding exhuast not raspy and high pitched... something deep and throaty... thanks...

ok ill have to take a look... i have the stock racing beat exhuast on my car... however its soo quiet... do you think if i get a new mid pipe with no cat... if that would sound good? so just have one of the two cats...
You have a stock RB muffler...the other guy means the full catback, which also happens to be 3/8" bigger...

i don't own an MP3 but i run the following setup on my 2003 protege ES
long-tube header, SLS 2.5" catted midpipe, custom 2.5" inlet to the stock MSP resonator, and stock MSP 2.25" outlet and piping from the resonator all the way to the muffler which is the stock Racing Beat piece from the 2003.5 MSP
all that yields a smooth, mildly noticeable exhaust tone at idle that isn't buzzy or rice-y at all, and is noticeable at thottle (louder, but still not buzzy! nice and smooth
). i'm sure eliminating the cat would also produce more sound.PM me if you have any questions about my particular setup, as I don't want to jack this thread

pretty sure it does. there's a noticeable difference between my midpipe and the s-pipe with the resonator. the 'custom' inlet for the resonator was made by me cutting off the front part of the resonator at the point where the cone on the leading edge of was 2.5" (I believe the resonator's main diameter is ~3" or so)

what if i get the catless midpipe? will it sound better or will it rasp??
i still have the stock cat, when installing the header you take out the first one, but i think the exhaust sounds great, no rasp at all.
I havent heard what it would sould like if i had a catless midpipe.
i didnt want mine to be too loud and i am happy with the little boost i got.

If you only delete one cat, you're safe. I've read though that with the deletion of both cats, it becomes a little raspy. Don't worry about getting a ricey tone though, it won't happen as long as you stick with a good muffler. Our engines are built for torque, so they sound better naturally.

ok cool... thats good to no... i dont want to sound like a honduh! um quick question i think my car has the full catback racing beat exhuast... it looks like 2 1/4 in exhuast all the way to cat...?? and its all manderal bent also...
