im looking to upgrade my suspension with a coilover package. who has what coilovers and what do u guys think of them. price is a factor but not as big a factor as quality and installation and ease of adjustability, i heard some units needed cutting to fit and some were difficult to adjust after installation. thanx guys!

I think a lot of the people on here are running BC's, myself included, on proteges, ms3s, and ms6s.

I have the Yellow Speed Racing cilovers and I like them. They are a little cheaper than BC and are ready to go out of the box. The only thing you have to do is set your ride height. I got mine from Protege Garage for less than what they have on their website. Just email Ken for a forum discount.

There was one person on here that reported a catastrophic failure with BC. The lower shock body separated. Apparently, it's a 2 piece lower. I believe the Yellow are a 1 piece design.

Tell me more about the yellows? Do you think they would work well for autocross? any issues noise etc?

another happy "yellow" driver here. i haven't autocrossed ever but am confident these will hold up. i tracked plenty with roadmagnets and stock shocks and they were great coming from stock and i like the ride the yellows are giving me. if money wasn't an issue perhaps id go KW but am happy with what the yellows have given me and at the intro price i picked them up for! Thanks PG again

Not to dig on yellow speed but there still a relatively new brand. I would stay away until they've been proven. K-Sport is a prime example. Everyone was happy that a company has chosen to make coilovers for a under supported platform. 3 months later, all shocks were blown. DDM tunning is another example. They produce great HID kits that we all know work great, so they decided to make coilovers for BMW's, they had a 100% fail/return rate. BC is a proven brand and K-Sport has come back with a great product in there V3 versions.

"I'm sorry, I can't hire you until you have some work experience..."

So how are the Yellows supposed to be "proven"? People take a chance on them. People use them real-world. Experience is gained. Profit.

Yellowspeed uses the same part ID between the MS3 and the MZ3. That tells me the damping/spring rate is not optimized for our cars. Damping adjustments appear to be non-linear based on reviews from others (BC). And if winters are a concern I'd think twice about doing a steel-constructed setup.

IMO KW V1's have the best compromise of quality, adjustability and price. They are 25lbs/in stiffer in front for the MS3. And at 1200 they're tough to beat. Height adjustment on the rear does not require you to disassemble the LCA to reach the perch - they're done underneath. I also like H&R coilovers; they too are MS3 specific and use Bilstein dampers (1150). With either setup you do not get adjustable damping. But for 300 more V2's offer rebound adjustment.

Hope that helps.
