Besides turbo, what other performance upgrades?

Besides the turbo for the 1.6L Protege. What other kinds of performance upgrades are possible and what have you all done? I have a 2000 1.6L Mazda Protege LX. Thanks.

header/intake/exhaust but you still won't be fast. Don't forget it's a 1.6. Take the suspension route..

I had intake and exhaust before I went boost. It didn't do jack. If you're serious about performance go boost.

its a good system, i have not seen ayone complain about it here yet, I dont know if anyone has one working on the 1.6 here or not

This ecu's robbing us blind, of power.
I can gurantee a whole lot of power is hidden in a stand alone. Were running some 11.5:1 a/f

So what would be a good replacement ECU for the 1.6 to hold one over until a better EMS is bought when a turbo is installed?

I know its old, but bump it!!!! I need an ECU too and could use some recommendations.
