Balancing Needed for OEM Wheels/Tires?

I just bought a set of OEM wheels and tires off a guy with a 2004 RX8 that has had them in his garage since he bought rims at 5000k miles. Since they were balanced from the factory and he never dismounted the tires (TPMS came with the setup) do I really need to get the balanced? Thanks for the help

I would have the balance checked, at least. Also, you might find that tires that old don't work very well. They loose flexibility and stickiness over time, as well as degradation from ozone and UV. If they were stored enclosed in plastic bags, it would be better.

The Potenzas are amazing tires. I had them balances once in 21k miles and only 1 tire was .5 grams off and the tech said that wasnt even enough to correct but they did anyway.

Never heard of a set of tires going through their entire life not needing a balance.

I would have them checked now that they are yours and not worry about it from here on out as long as you rotate them every 5k.

I bought a set of RX8 wheels last night that came with the original bridgestones and TPMS. My question is will i have to get the TPMS out of my stock set up and place them in the RX8 setup or will the car be able to pick up the signal from the new ones in the RX8s...thanks.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

im not sure if the tpms is the same on the rx8, but there is a procedure to assign that set of tpms to your car. I might be wrong but i think the procedure to do it is in the manual.
