how much hp/tq do you think you're getting out of an intake or exhaust? then figure out the cost/benefit of just the increase not to mention the drivability...netranger6 said:Interesting. I for one, would not even mess with the balance shafts, let alone spend my free time doing that for 3 hp/tq, that I won't even feel. Isn't there a better way to get that nominal gain?

Thats the beauty of the forum folks....I love watching others do the R&D like my friend from up north. 3hp is relatively meaningless, just as 5hp from the Intake proved to be something less than that on his latest foray to the dyno.
I remain skeptical of the BSD, and against my better judgement I also went an put on a CAI and found it to be less than satisfactory...on a 5hp bump rate.
I'll wait for his latest pull, but I am already bumping to 89 octane based on his dyno air fuel posts which are scary lean to me after 2 motors on my turbo toy. So there may be a cheap used CAI for sale in Arizona pretty quick...
Looks like the 3 is well engineered and the gains are just not there based on current development levels in the aftermarket.
I know its hard not to mod...but it looks like waiting is the best choice, for the time being.
Yep thats why most the Mazda 6 intakes (except CP-e) were huge till it got to the maf area where they made the pipe diamater the same as the airbox cause cel's would be thrown so fast! I'm gonna be getting another intake as well cause I'm sick of the damn lights!AzMz3 said:I wouldn't say that the 3 is well engineered. Just that the current intake makers did not that into consideration that moving the MAF housing would result in leaning the engine out as much as they do.
And as stated many times the BSD is not just for HP/TQ gains.
Part of modding is always taking chances. I took the chance of getting the first intake out, now I will be buying another once it comes out.
Yep waiting is always funAzMz3 said:I just don't see why anyone could be skeptical of the BSD kit, unless they can't do the install themself. I consider it to be a very worth while mod.
And as usual with modding there is always something better coming out, so if you are waiting for something good you will be waiting for a long time.
