I have read all the posts about connecting an iPod to my Mazda3, however I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of what the back of the audio system looks like. I just want to make sure I know all my options before I go out and drop money on all the parts I need and if I could avoid cracking open my car and checking for myself that would be very helpful. Thanks.

I took the stock disc changer out of mine, and will try to get some pics for you ASAP. In the meantime, removing the stock radio is super simple and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. First open your glove box. The trim strip that is directly above it(mine looks like fake carbon fiber) pulls right off from passenger side to driver side. Be careful though, the plastic clips can break if you pull too hard. Once that strip is off, you only have to remove two phillips head screws and then pull the unit out. The factory wiring is long enough for you to get a good look at the back of the unit. To put it back in, just reverse!!

you'll need the pie adapter that you can pick up from logjam or discount car stereo. theres only 1 plug that isn't being used on the back of a stuck 3 radio.

look at the date... the original post was almost a month ago... hehehe... been slackin on helpin the poor dude out...oh well... as far as a line in... there are only two ways besides "cracks" that i know of one is the PIE (made for alpine accessories) and the other is a small circ board adapter that plugs into the tape aux and gives you a line in made be some electrical eng students.... both have a waiting list and neither are cheap.... look in the car audio section in the forums tech section not in the mazda 3 section... there is a sticky at the top for aux inputs... it should cover your info..
