AWR Headers Not compatable with Automatic Transmissions

I just talked to Mitch at Protege5 and he said that the are not selling AWR headers for people that have automatic's. I called Anthony at AWR and he varified that they are Not selling the headers or recommending them for cars with Automatics. He said something about the oil pan is different and the EGR does not line up. Also, he said he raised the price of the headers around $60.00 dollars. Does anyone know of a good high quility header that will fit automatics that have the two 02 sensors and EGR hook up?

umm....no! I have an auto, and the install was a piece of cake....everything lined up perfect. That does sound kinda weird :bs:

i was going to ask you citizenpro if you have an early header of not, but that makes no difference. i know lgagno1 is having the same issues with his auto P5 and the awr header. me thinks over the weekend i might take off my stock exhaust and test fit the awr header incase it's the header that's the problem not the auto/manual...

I actually have the early AWR header, its mild steel. They dont make the mild steel anymore....strictly SS. But your right, that still shouldnt matter.

i say make it fit.... u can always have it cusom fit. that jungle of a header at essentialspeed is a waste. If u want a good shorty header talk to perfworks and wagner.

^^ that's what i was going to say.

but still the price you pay for the short header + the front cat and dump pipe...more than the awr header...doesnt sound like a good idea to me...

i know most people are wanting to do that to keep the car emissions safe, but 1 cat is enough to pass emissions (ie get a high flow 2nd cat). if you're worried about a visual inspection you'll still fail because you've removed the stock cat.

by the way, i spoke to an exhaust guy here today (does pretty much only race cars), and he said the primaries on the awr are huge!!! just as big if not bigger than most 4 cylinder race cars he does exhausts for......very interesting!!!

Its the world challenge header.... its sick.. but i think that the possibility of a new 41 or 421 header in the near future is very likely. I am looking into it personally. less $ than the AWR :D

4-2-1 headers are by far the best way to go with our engines....we simply dont rev high enough to get to where the 4-1 headers (full size that is) make more power than the 4-2-1 designs

just took my stock exhaust header off and put the awr on to check the fitment. perfect line up. no worries at all.

ps - looks just a bit better than the stock one ;)
