Autometer 194 Bulbs

for anyone with autometer gauges, u know the lil bulb condom sucks, my solution to that was to buy a colored bulb(red), worked great for a week, then the color went back to white

LEDs were my next choice, but they don't illuminate enough, anyone have a solution to this?

I was going to check on the LEDs myself...so in your opinon they dont illuminate much?

I have red LEds in mine, and they are not very bright. The clear bulbs with the red covers were a lot brighter.

I picked up this LED for my autometer gauge, The color is a deeper red and more vibrant but it did make the gauge a little darker at night, IMO it looks much better when compared to the red condom light. This is the only pic I've got for now but if anyone would like I can take more

np, yes it does look a little brighter in the pic. but for $4 a light it's not a bad buy. although shipping is $5.95 IIRC. so $10.00 total. I've seen a couple of other sites that sell 194 size LED's possibley for cheaper

Those bulbe use 6 LED's, I believe mine only uses 1. Overkill? maybe but for the price you can't beat it. $7.79 shipped

I use red 194's in my gauges, and thy've kept their red color without fading for like 2 years now. Matches the factory gauges perfect too!

that was quick. to be honest the link I posted in my second response actually had them for a little cheaper and the LED's had 6 bulbs as opposed to mine which only has 2 IIRC. but that's cool, it still looks great IMO.

This is exactly what I did for the autometer gauges ... I bought the 5-LED bulbs and they are awesome - The red matches stock very well.

i have been trying a bunch of leds in stock gauges... very hard to do with STILL KEEPING THE LIGHT

pull your gauge out of the pod, look at the back side of the gauge, twist the part that has the wires coming out of it to the left and whammy there's the bulb, just pull the bulb gently out of the socket. you don't need to pull the bulb out if your just changing the condom, it should just pull/slide right off the bulb. Hope that helps

well i dont have them installed yet but on the back of my boost gauge theres no wires comin out of it.i bought it from a user on this site but no wires.there are wires comin outta my oil pressure gauge though.so maybe theres a bulb in there then.i hope i didnt get screwed over
