Autolite = Crap??? NGK Cheapies Save The Day!

All of my tools are boxed up in storage, so I decided to let a local shop change out my spark plugs since it was overdue for a swap. I had those expensive-ass Denso Iridium plugs in the car before this. When I got the car back, there was a slight intermittent shudder at a rough idle and when I hit the accelerator from a dead stop, there was a bad hesitation. At freeway speeds, the car lagged and generally ran like crap. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic said I should change out my spark plug wires. I figured this made sense, since I had the Sparkos everyone has had trouble with. I had actually anticipated this, so I put on the stock wires, - SAME problem. So I go back to the shop and ask which brand of plugs they used. The mechanic says Autolite and proceeds to read out the part # and confirms it's a match for the P5. (I was charged $3 per plug.) I then walked a few blocks up the street and bought 4 stock NGK's for $2 per plug and asked him to swap them out. He does. Problem solved. Car runs like a top. The guy actually gave me back the $12 he charged me for the Autolites!

So,... stock NGK's are just as good as the $50 set of Denso Iridiums I previously had in there. Most of you guys already know that! But is Autolite a crap brand of plug? Or perhaps there was just a dud plug. I don't know. I DO KNOW that from now on, it's $2 NGK's for me.
