Auto headlights off on sport model?

Does the sport model turn the headlights off automatically after turning off the car and removing the key. My headlights won't turn off. Even my 99 honda had this. I can't believe its not there.

None of the CX-7 models will automatically turn off the headlights with the ignition if the switch is in the headlight or parking like position. GT models have the auto headlights and there it will shut off with the car, however even those headlights will stay on if you put it to the headlight or parking light position.

My roomate's speed6 turns the lights off after 30 seconds. And my former cars (05 Mustang and 01 focus) would turn the headlights off after 15 minutes to save the battery.

I haven't left my CX-7 lights on to see if they have the 15 minute battery saver function.

I didnt know about the 15 minute thing. My honda had a 1 minute delay till the lights went off. I may have to try it since I can't get used to turning the lights off and am afraid Ill drain the battery.

Of course the dealer said they would go off. Another of the many lies.

It's so odd. Mazda clearly has a device to in it's parts bin to shut the lights off. Why wouldn't they include it? It can't be THAT expensive.

On the GT, the headlights DO turn off when the ignition is turned off, PROVIDED the headlight switch is in the AUTO position. If the headlight switch is in the ON position and the ignition is turned off, then the lights STAY ON and you get a loud chime. There is NO timer function.

Vince.

Exactly... well it would be nice for non-GT owners to get the timer... and when it's raining I have to manually turn the lights on since they don't come on with the wipers (which they should!).

I know you get the loud chime, it's just that my $12,000 focus turned it's lights off, I paid $36,000 for the CX-7, they could have added this feature.

well that was the MSRP on the sticker I didn't actually pay that.

I didn't pay 12,000 for the focus either.

^^^^ beat me to it. I wonder if there is a way to do this and the fogs on the same stalk?
