Audi Style LED Strips

A lot of guys seems to be against any mods on a 5... Or simply that it has to be coming from the outer space, so nobody ever heard about it yet...

I think there is a fear of taking styling cues from other cars, because one might be accused of envy.

Never mind that most original designs freely borrow for other cars.

Anyways... Here are the pics of the strips finally installed on one of my 2 babies.
Looks Good!

Thanks for the good comments!

I wired them on my low beam harness, since in CDA, Day time running lights are mandatory and it would be useless to plug them separately. Don't worry, I would if I could.

So they are always on and this is what I wanted.

It took me 20 minutes to install them. Really easy. Only thing: the company from whom I bought them, shipped me 2 strips that where not matching in color... It took me almost a month and 1/2 to straight things up...

I pretty much only had good comments from people on the street so... I'm happy of the end results.

I guess to each his own and if you like it - more power to you. I still think that it doesn't go with Mazda style, but who knows, maybe one day it will grow on me as well :) only time will tell.

Car looks good by the way. Keep up the good work.

Strips comes in different sizes... Either 9 or 18 inches long. Mine is the 18". They are easy to install, but you have to make sure to use the right "2 sided" tape and cut it exactly so that you don't see the tape elsewhere but underneath the strip. The "cheap" tape melts when the sun hits it hard... The one I used does not. Home depot all the way!

I have some 3M double side tape, i'll check that to install it with that, those stripes are gona be my DRL (since i have my HID I don't have any DRL)

Can you show me what it looks like when the lights are not in use ?

Awaken,

How did you do to remove your DRL? I'm curious....

As for the strips, since I connected them to my "low beam harness", they will not turn on without the low beams on... But then again, since I always turn all the lights on every time, there is not much difference for me...

I have put a relay kit, the trigger of the relay, i have tap the remote wire of the corners, so everything is like before BUT i have no DRL when my siwtch is at AUTO during the day.

Also, can you post a picture of your led strips when they are not in use ? I want to see what it looks like.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry... I get it. Here are 2 pics for you. Please note that the strips where not installed yet, but it gives you an idea.

I know I'm in the mazda5 thread, but I figured I'd let you guys know about this
For those of you that are interested there is now a guy doing the LEDs inside the headlights underneith for $139, if you want them painted also $189
I've had them on my car for a few months with no fogging or anything so the quality is definitely there.

That's good BUT you loose your light for how many days ? When it's your daily ride it's not a good idea !

depends on how you send them. I sent mine next day, he got them, finished them sent them back same day and I had them the day after. I drove without lights for 2 days and this is my daily driver. Obviously I didn;t drive at night

I have them install on the top of the headlight underneath the hood... but i'm waiting for my other package (surprise) to open my headlight. Pics to come in 1-2 weeks ;).
