Today I was driving my msp on base. And I had been idling for about 3 minutes due construction in the road. When I finally took off, my car died on me and tghe temp gauge SPIKED past hot. The car is turning over, but that's it. It is not getting any fuel. The coolent in from the radiator is hot , but the coolent to the radiator is cool. So I think it may be a thermostat since it isn't getting to the engine. I also noticed a leak under my car and it may be water... gimme some input please.

EDIT.... I failed to mention that I let the car cool down and now it is cool to the touch, however the temp gauge is still spiked at hot. I even tried to unplug the battery and it hasn't worked either.

check the fuse, that will cause the sensor to read HOT to prevent engine damage.... i assume the car isnt starting?

check fuses, sounds like a thermestat or a clogged radiator. check ur oil too, and make sure there is no collant (oil would be milky). sounds like a fuse went also. check the fuses under ur hood. also could be ur water pump went out. take ur timing belt cover off and check ur timeing belt. maybe it snapped? lol check all the easy stuff first. fuses, thermestat, and oil.

So I figured out, I blew an engine fuse.. I replaced it with another 10 amp fuse. And I rode it for about ten min and it blew again. What could it be now

I forgot to mention I have the fog light mod found n the how to to where I can turn them on with my parking.. that's the ltest electrical mod

thats because the problem isnt the blown fuse, thats only the symptom

check your wiring and thermostat

sounds more like a power wire is raw and is grounding somewhere. check around the fuse box and chase the wiring harness around the engine bay and look for cracks or bare wires

Its over powering the engine amp somehow?? Idk.. ill check my wires.. I think its something as far as my wiring

I checked the fuses and the oil and everything is still good. I havnt had the change to get to the water pump or the thermo, as I dnt know where the waterpump is located. I blew another fuse this morning going to work.. grr

ok your over heating issue is one of three things and or a combination of them..... water pump (does it leak, look at the weap hole), T-stat, and or rad fans... If the fans arn't kicking in it will obviously over heat while still.

I assume your coolant level is fine so I didn't list that as an option for failure. If its was low check youse hoses and water pump weap hole.

As far as your fuse issue goes... How long ago did you do that fog mod mod? If recently disconnect that crap and see if it still continues. Have you done anything else recently thats electrical related to the car?

Edit: WHATEVER YOU DO.... DO NOT PUT A BIGGER AMP FUSE IN PLACE OF THE OLD ONE. IT MAY NOT BLOW IF YOU DO THAT BUT YOU RISK DRAWING TO MUCH POWER THROUGH THOSE WIRES AND CATCHING YOUR s*** ON FIRE.

I noticed today tha when I replace the fuse, it no longer shows the engine temp as hot, it returns and holds at its normal temp. Even after driving it for a little on a new fuse. I'm starting to think it may just be a short going on somewhere, and not an overheating issue

I found the problem people. When I put in my exhaust, I had to relocate my o2 to after the cat. And when I did somehow the extention wires I used came, out of the ziptie.. prolly burned. But the wire coating on it burned and was down to the bare wire. When it wsa hitting the exhaust, that is what was causing the short. Anywho, thanks all for helping. I can finally stop pulling out the little bit of military reg hair I have lol...

Glad to see you got it figured out! I would of never guessed it was 02 related. lol

Edit: How long ago did you install that thing?

I did the install on the exhaust about 2to 3 weeks ago. I'm just happy it wasn't the fog light mod that was doing it. Now I can redo it woo hoo
