<~~~~ I'm working....why wouldn't I be? Someone had a dream of equality and we all get off work? WTF?? I have a dream about Hillary Duff but that doesn't mean I can take the day off.

I'm so friggin sick of everyone having to be P.C. all the time. Now if MLK was the one who abolished slavery I could see celebrating that, but he didn't....Lincoln ( a white guy) did. Why not have Al Sharpton day? Al Shaprton is every bit the civil rights leader MLK was and he's still alive. s***, he's running for president of the USA. If you wanna kiss blacks ass for errors we made a long time ago thats fine, you've dedicated your month (february) to learning all about it. Last I checked we didn't have euro-american history month or asian-american history month. Weren't the chinese used as slave labor on the railroads 150 years ago?? Why no holiday dedicated to a chinese guy who dreamt of not being a slave??




From now on I only celebrate Easter, Christmas and Festivus.

I feel I should throw a piece of historical "civil rights" trivia out there for those interested.......My next door neighbor is Robert Earl Cherry. He is a recluse now, forced to change his name and stay within his home. In 6 months of living in my new house I've never seen him once. My wife has. She spoke with his wife for a few minutes. I believe they live under an assumed name (what she told my wife). Very sad to be a young jackass, do something stupid and have to pay for it for the rest of your life....but you get what you deserve in the end.

read some books will ya? For African Americans the time of Martin Luther King was the beginning of a fight for equality that has changed the entire face of our country. Down in your neck of the woods they had "colored" drinking fountains and s*** damn near into the 70's. Now people like Al Sharpton actually CAN run for president.

I suggest you watch an incredible series on PBS called "Eyes on the Prize". It's multi-part series on the civil rights movement. It might clear up your vision a little.

I kinda regret the first paragraph I just wrote in this response because your response is probably out of ignorance (not a slam....it refers to not knowing the facts) and not out of malice.

As an educated person I'm not upset by your opinions of me. I have seen "eyes on the prize" it didn't move nearly as much as "Schindlers List". There's a difference in being a slave and being cremated alive with 2 million of your friends and family members.

I know my views are skewed from what you "yanks" see, but there is a different world down here. Everything is different from the culture you have up north or out west. People in the south are made to feel guilty about our past even though WE (citizens today) had nothing to do with it. Why should I be harrassed because of something someone elses ancestors did? FWIW, my family started off in america about 80 years ago. We didn't own slaves, support slavery, or join the Klan. We were peanut farmers in south Georgia. Now were forced to hear about the struggles of the young blacks in this country when they have 100X's the freedom and oppurtunity that was afforded their grandparents. they have that oppurtunity and (without hard numbers in front of me) more than half of them WASTE it.

Slavery was/is wrong. You want equality? You got it. Now you have to work for everything you want just like everyone else does. Oh, now you feel you're entitled to reparations? Freedom and equality isn't good enough for you? Well kiss my ass. Excuse me if I don't roll over and fulfill your every whim because you feel you've been wronged in the past. Do you see me (christian) going to the Romans and asking for reparations for feeding christians to lions?? Nope, because it didn't affect me personally. Now if they threw my momma to lions I'd want some sort of justice, but not money. It's a "something for nothing" attitude that pisses me off.


Sorry for ranting. I just get very offended by people who think they are owed anything for living on this wonderful planet.

As a hispanic I have to agree with you guys on this also. If there was a channel that was called "White Entertainment Television" there would be protestors everywhere, but no one protests BET.
