are these tires any good?

whats BFG? anyways, i was lookin to get new tires or some used tires cause my tires are almost out completely...almost to the wire...anyways, i found some Dunlop SP Z rated Tires with 65% thread left for 90 bucks...i thought that might be a good deal....anyways, i just wanted to see if dunlop was any good..i've read a few reviews and there are many people saying that dunlops aren't good.....

Dunlops are a cheap tire, but a set of 4 for $90 will get you by.

BFGoodrich, best performance tire imo. im wearing a set of G-force sports, they are a hell of a tire.

Im going to have to disagree with you on BFG G-force's being 'the best performance tire'.. I had them on my car when I got it, took them off as soon as I could.. I know you said thats your opinion.. But this is my opinion.. My next tires are going to be a set of Falken Azeni RT-615's.. I wish they still made the 215.. IMO, those were the best tire made..

Well, I actually had #5.. And they still sucked.. But BF goodrich does make good tires.. Just not good enough for me.. lol :)

Comparing the BFG g-force KDW or BFG g-force Sport to either one of the Falken Azenis (I like the RT-615 better actually) isn't really a fair comparison. It's almost like comparing a Wal-Mart special M+S rated all season tire to a Hoosier race tire.

Not really considering the price per tire isnt that much of a difference..

rt-615s ftw... threadwear ftl

bought them new in February and i'm already at the wearbars.

I would have to say that they do wear down pretty quickly though.. Thats really the only negative thing about them.. But I would have to say, the grip is worth it..

Here's the list of tires that I live by:

Cheap, decent life, decent performance, all season:
- Falken Ziex ZE-912 (would have said the 512, but they have been discontinued)

A little more expensive, less performance, last a lot longer, all season:
- Yokohama AVID H4S

The best performance you can get out of a tire, but they don't last very long, pure summer tire:
- Falken Azenis RT-615

A tire that looks good on paper and has gotten good reviews, all season:
- Kumho Ecsta AST

I got about 11,000 miles out of my first set of Azenis RT-215 tires. But those tires also had about 15 autox events (so about 60 runs) on them. And I wore those tires down so only a ghost image of the tread was visible. If someone spit out their window, I would hydroplane on it!

My Ziex 512 tires are wearing quickly. I've had them on since late March and I'm down to the wear bars on the rears (were in the front). The tires on the front are approaching the wear bars as well. If I had to guess at mileage, I'd say it's been close to 10,000 miles- and over 4000 of that has been straight interstate driving. I have done some spirited driving on these tires, but no autoxes.

That's some heavy wear on the 512s. They are supposed to last 30k. The new 912s are supposed to last 40k. In the end, if you want a tire to last, stay away from Falken tires and get something with a 450+ treadwear rating.

My G-Force Sports have a 550 treadwear rating..

I think the reason why not many know about BFG is because of the pricing. I know enough about the average Falken tire, i see them from time to time at work. and in one simple word, i cant describe them. but one of the better words is cheap. I HATE trying to balance them, especially for trucks, they wear fast and scallop faster then they wear.

I've had the G-Force on for 2 months, they start at 10/32, I'm down to 9/32 and i have 10k on them.

I'm considerably less then a falken fan, But, these are MY opinions. I'm sure other people have had better luck, but on average at my shop, falken tires are considered cheap tires to put on cheap rims.

550 treadwear with 10/32 tread depth! OUCH! I think the tires I put on my wife's SUV have about these same specs. These are in a different class of tire than most tires talked about on this forum. These tires will damn near last the life of the car while offering very little ultimate dry grip. Alot of people on this forum are willing to sacrifice tread life for grip- at least I know I am.

I'm starting to lean that way as well. In the future I doubt I will buy any other Falken besides the Azenis RT-615. The 512s wear too quickly for my tastes.
