Eh...You'll lose either way no matter what you do.

1. Give her a gift card and she'll complain that you put no thought into her gift. 2. Give her an actual gift and she'll complain that you don't know her.

Gift cards are lame to give, O.K. to get. I don't like knowing exactly how much people spent, or people knowing how much I spent.

I'd rather someone take the time to shop for something I don't like/need than take the easy way out.

Either way I'm going back to the store.

Ok so from my g/f's friend, which is a girl, perspective:
I met this guy 3 months ago and we're dating but not officially b/f & g/f. I know he likes designer clothes. He's not one of those goes that's in electronic gadgets n video games. I'm not sure what to get him but I'm thinking about getting him some clothes. What should I get him???
=====

My reaction to this was def. don't get the guy some clothes. If he's really into that stuff he'll be extremly picky on the exact style and whatever. For three months it just seemed like a little much to get the dude some designer shirts or something. Perfect chance for a gift card, but nooooo she doesn't like the idea.

So I'm like fine just take the guy out and go shopping for you dad and ask him for advice on a wide range of stuff. Bamm you'll get an idea of some stuff that he thinks is ok.

Although the merino is an excellent grazer and very adaptable, it is bred chiefly for its wool, because it matures slowly and its mutton is generally of poor quality, excepting the related South African Mutton Merino and Merinofleischschaf derivative breeds. The wool is tightly crimped and springy. Staples are commonly 2.54 inches (65100 mm). A merino produces 713 lb (4.56 kg) of unwashed wool in one year. Merino wool is generally less than 24.5 micrometers in diameter. Fine merino wool is less than 21.5 micrometres (also known as microns) and extra-fine merino is under 19.5 micrometres.

The term "merino" is widely employed in the textile industries with very varied meanings. Originally it was restricted to denote the wool of the merino sheep reared in Spain, but owing to the superiority of Australian and New Zealand wools the term now has broader use. In the dress-goods and knitting trades the term "merino" still implies an article made from the very best soft wool. "Merino" is sometimes employed to mean knitwear produced with a special worsted yarn made of 100% wool.

My sister has been complaining about how her roommate never cleans the bathroom. So I got her one of these for Christmas...I'm gonna stick it in her stocking. Don't worry, I'm getting her other stuff too.

Anyway, back to the gift card thing.

The laziest gift to give is cash...it says: I don't know what to get you and I don't care. Here's some money so go buy something. The only time this is acceptable is for distant relatives that you don't see or know very well. Cash is always a welcome gift...but the receiver rarely remembers you gave it to them.

Next on the lazy list is gift cards...it says I don't know what to get you but I think you like to shop here. I would have picked something out myself but I probably have bad taste. If you truely have bad taste this is a good option. If you just don't know what to get someone then ask their friends/relatives. If you pick a card from the right store you are essentially giving the person cash...with a little extra thought. The person will remember you gave them the gift until they use it...in which case it will just be another item they purchased.

Also on the lazy list are those stupid gift sets...they say I don't know what to get you but I saw this on display and picked it up for you. It was cheap. They are always cheap. You might make use of it for a few months and then it will sit in a drawer or get thrown out.

Candles are also on the lazy list unless you know someone constantly burns them and likes specific scents. Pay attention to which people take these items at Yankee swaps or party grabs. If they don't go for it...don't buy them one next year.

All of these gifts are fine if you aren't concerned about giving the person a memorable gift...but if you want your present to count this year...pick something out that is unique. Put some friggen thought into it.

Just get something from Tiffs. Girls can't resist anything that comes in that blue box, even if there's a smelly turd in it.

I think its a bad idea, it like you are tooo lazy to think of what that person like. What is the different giving money to that person and tell them to buy it themselves
