is the different versions of the ap just the mapping or the whole unit? and if someone else has already used one on their speed 3 does mean anything or is a used one the same as an old one?

All AP's are the same. They do have updated software from time to time which is separate from the Maps. But you can simply go to Cobbs website and download/install the latest Software anytime you wish.

But hardware wise all AP's are the same.

actually. i was looking at the cp-e standback and it says you can customize your boost a/f yada yada yada. iss this possible on the ap or is what the map says what your gunna get

Right now you can't tune the AP you only have the choice of the OTS Maps. However, tuning is coming and last I heard was within the next two months we will get the street tuner which will allow us to tune ourselves.

that would be sweet. so really the hardware is completely capable of supporting self tuning its just a matter of cobb coming out with the proper software so you can create your own maps and yaday ada. its nice to know im buying something that has so many possibilities. i hate buying things that are outdated in a year.

I get that you can't tune the AP yourself to adjust boost, BUT, with the Cobb Maps, is boost increased automatically? I would definitely get the AP if that were the case, I was planning on getting a manual boost controller, but it sounds like the AP might be able to do that, or at best, be able to do it soon. In either case, seems dumb to get the manual boost controller if AP can do it.

rightn ow im running about 15.5-16 psi. with the tune when i get my fuel pumop i should be pushing about 17-18 psi from what ive seen on other peoples maps. mind you my boost is only for about 1000 rpm's then it tapers off. te others are holding almost a consistant 18. big difference.
