Anyone using the Forge wastegate...?

Is anyone using the Forge billet wastegate...?
Have a look:

I'm wondering what exactly this would do for us...? From the description, I gather it bypasses the boost control system we have? Is it kind of like a manual boost control? What are the differences between a MBC or EBC and this wastegate?

Also, if we this indeed bypasses the EBC we have, will the ECU freak out in some way?

Thanks!!! (2thumbs)

It's a wastegate actuator, not a wastegate. It can be installed as a direct replacement with the factory boost controller or in conjunction with an aftermarket boost controller. I do not know about the possibility of putting it in with no controller. I will make inquiries.
One of the advantages to this unit is that it is adjustable by way of springs, much the same way their BPV is. If you are running higher than stock boost levels, this is an advantage in that you can install a heavier spring that matches up better than the factory actuator does. This should provide a more consistent boost level.

Seems like you can use this WGA in place of the factory boost control. You can totally eliminate the ECU control on boost and turn it into mechanical control.

Supposedly you can control max boost and spool speed.

Seems like an awesome product...though I was just told by the vendor that cranking up the boost on the stock turbo will shorten its life...even to just 17-18 PSI.

So I guess I'll hold off this mod for a while; until I'm ready for a new turbo.
