anyone trading their 07/08/09 for a 2010?

If the rattle is that bad go in and warrant it. Isnt there a TSB for that anyway? Thought it had something to do with the windshield...

There is a write up and pics of the 2010 in the new C&D towards the back... Looks nice. HP on the 2.3 is up to 167 and gets the 6 sp. manual.

Took mine in for windshield and dash creek, was done in 24 hours under warranty. I brought a printout of the TSB with me though :P

If it does end up being released and I really liked it, I'd wait until a 2011 or possible 2012 model. I don't like the idea of getting those first-year runs.

Believe it or not, first year runs are typically the best. A close friend involved in the industry explained it to me like this:

First year model cars have the most money invested in them. Every year going forward after the car is released, the company finds newer ways to cut costs and produce things cheaper, to increase profitability.

The MS3 was already out and released, so the engine and trans will already be solid. It's mainly the new body that will be new, and that will be easy to avoid issues.

Going to a first year model with a brand new engine and trans is a little trickier. *edit* they bored it out a little, but shouldn't change too much.

Wow, some people fall hook, line and sinker for the 'new' models that mfg's bring out. You take the 15 to 25% depreciation hit/beating as soon as you drive the new off their lot but then to take the beating again one or two years later?

If your place (house/condo) is paid off (mortgage free) and everything else is paid for (flat screen tv, furniture, etc) is owned outright (not on a payment plan) then, yeah, taking the depreciation beating every few years when the new model comes might make more sense.... but how many people are in that boat and buying a $23k car every few years??

Agreed that it's pretty foolish.

It's tough being a car enthusiast and enjoying a particular car so much that everytime they update it just the way you'd like it, you can't deny but to get it.

I did that in the past with other cars and it was a loss of money.

I'll need to hold onto my car for atleast 2.5 years before i'll be able to fathom gaining any money back in a trade in or even just the down payment back. By then, i'll be modding too far along to look back. My dad told me a long time ago "There will always be bigger and better each year..just pick one and hold on as long as you can". Almost like women..lol, only it'd be "younger and hotter". Well technically, cars get younger and hotter too (younger=newer).

re: whether to wait a year on a new model-I agree that as the years go on the manufacturer cuts costs, but there are more problems on 1st year releases. 06 GTI for example had way more issues than the 07 but VW didn't start 'decontenting' as they call it until 08. We GTI fanbois are always saying "well our interiors are so nice"...LOL but that's one of the areas that VW was looking to cut costs but as far as I know they kept the soft touch stuff in for the most part. But thay have done away with a couple amenities for the 08 and 09's.

No, and I'm still not holding my breath. I'm still willing to bet $100 that there will be no new '10 MS3.

A lot of people bet that there wouldnt be an 09 either...
Way too much hype over those spy photos, its in europe its probably the MPS and may not make it to the states as early as 2010.

first year MS3 had MM issues and fuel pump issues that were fixed by 08. Yes they may try and find ways to make each additional year cheaper by cutting costs but they also fix major bugs like the engine falling out.

If the front looks anything like the standard M3, then Hell NO!!!

I swear you put a license plate in the stock location on that ugly ass smiley face bumper your car will look like a Buck-Toothed Car. That front on the 2010 M3 is just ugly and I think the designer of that liked the Redneck Wrecker in the move Cars way too much.
